Huell Howser Question

forum. I don't think there is an alt.pbs forum. Anyway here we go.
I enjoy watching Video Log, California Gold, and Visiting With Huell
Howser. He seems like a nice guy and a good host. He's been on PBS
since about 1987 yet I have no idea about his background. Over the
years as part of the stories he's commenting on he gives away a little
bit about him yet he really never gave his whole background.
From the shows I've watched this is what I gathered -
He was from Tennesse originally.
Lived in Texas before moving to California.
Was in the Marines.
This is all he's really given away.
He looks old enough to have been in the Vietnam War yet he hasn't
mentioned anything about it.
Anyway, here is some questions.
How old is he?
Is he married?
Any kids?
In the Vietnam War?
How did he get this hosting job at the PBS?
How long was he been at PBS?
Did he start at PBS with Video Log or did he do other hosting or
production there?
What work did he do before PBS? Was it media or was it something else?
How did he get into media?
Does he live in Hollywood or Los Angeles or the suburbs like the Valley?
The guy's show is great so I was curious about his background.
I was at Pink's hot dog stand on Melrose on Saturday and they had a
listing of his fave hot dogs. I didn't buy any of his fave meals there
though.
Anyway if you have any info on him please post it. He's like a PBS
mystery, like he doesn't want anyone to know about him.

The "behind the scene" story that I like best is how Huell traveled through
the Soviet Union with a hand held video camera. I was told that he would
have people he met hold the camera as he did his interviews. I can't help
but smile thinking about how that must of been!

Huell Howser, the tough former Marine, the southern tough guy is a
homosexual? The guy with that hokey southern accent? The guy who says
"Welllll Hiiiiii" to everyone on the show? Surprises me. He doesn't
even come seem gay at all.
But then again I was at Pinks (hot dog place) last saturday and some
guy was telling his friend that he met Huell at some video store that
he worked at and Huell showed his true colors when it came to sexual
preference and personality. I'm not saying if this guy said Howser was
homosexual or not because I have to be careful of what I say here but
his true side might surprise some of you. Surprised me.
I wasn't sure if I should believe that guy or not but you and others
also have mentioned a homosexual tendency that Howser might have.
Oh well, I like his show anyway, good show and he does a good job of
making people speak about their experiences and lives.
Does anyone know if there is a connection between Howser and Jim Nabors?
I hear Nabors might not walk the straight line either, but then again
that might be a rumour from ground control.
