AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Release 2 v Autocad 2000

Could someone please advise me which is the better for architectural
drawings? Is Architectural Desktop a subset of AutoCad or is it much
better for architectural work?

Bernard,

You have it a bit backwards. Architectural Desktop requires Autocad as it is
a superset addon to Autocad.
I am not sure what retail price is for Arch desktop but if I remember right
I heard somewhere in the $2500.00US area.

ADT2 is being sold in the UK for little more than the price of AutoCAD
R2000. It's an add on that give you object based technology and the
ability to create quick 3D drawings.

IMHO

It's a shame that when Autodesk sells the product they don't include a
learning assistance CD for ADT2 only R2K.

Books are short on the ground, Authorised dealers have very few
trainers for the product. Appart for spend many hours of fun with
tutorials and manual there does not seem to be a fast track method
of getting into ADT2.

We just purchased a copy of Architectural Desktop V.2 and it is AutoCAD plus
the Archtectural enhancments. I've been using regular Acad 2000 for the last
3 or 4 months and can see no difference between it and the AEC package other
that the AEC features. And I didn't have Acad 2000 loaded when I installed
AEC v.2.
