Acad 14, 2000i does not allow drawing a helix or a spiral. As a result one
can not draw a screw thread in 3D. Does any one have a idea?

Mechanical desktop can draw helix. Perhaps Autodesk thinks helix option is
too expensive to provide in ACAD.

Thanks

Hey, Bijan,

I need to draw an archimedes spiral. Is there a way to import a series of
x-y coords into autocad and then use a spline to connect them? That would do
it.

Bev

Hello All,

Did you know that there are at least 16 ways to enter co ords
in acad:-

http://homepage.dtn.ntl.com/terry.rawkins/acad/3d/3d-16way.htm

One is cylindrical:- rad<bearing,z_height

eg 25<90,10

Put your data into excel and make a script file.

or you could use the old spiral.lsp prog on my site
