Hello All,

I've just started using AutoCAD v14 and would like to use my SummaSketch
III digitizer (that I've been using with v12 DOS). I'm tired of the poor
mouse sensitivity/accuracy, and want to maximize my drawing area (ie:remove
the button bars from the screen).
The driver for the tablet in AutoCAD does not work very well, as I get very
jumpy slow responses from the tablet compared to my puck movements (I heard
that this is a common problem with the faster processors, I have a Pen.
266). I tried self-installing CalComp's new driver (sg95nt42.exe) but I
still can't get the tablet to work, at all.
Does anyone have an A-Z step-by-step (for dummies) procedure to properly
install and configure the SummaSketch III digitizer for AutoCAD 14?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

The Calcomp driver you downloaded should work fairly well. You do have to
closely follow the instructions which may include installing using ADD New
Hardware rather than Software. Call Calcomp. They will walk you through it.

Assumming you do get the WinTab driver installed. Start the tablet manager and
set the active area to the whole tablet. Then start Acad. Select Preferences
or type 'config' and select the WinTab compatible driver by Autodesk and do a
'tablet cfg'. It should work.

If you still have problems, try VisualTablet with a mouse. You can get all
your tablet menus with a mouse and pop-up icons. A demo is available at:
