Q: What is the difference between the commercial version of AutoCAD R13
and the educational version of AutoCAD R13?
A: The two are identical with the only difference being that the
educational version comes with a hardware lock. Both are full, complete
versions and both are fully upgradeable.
Q: What is a hardware lock?
A: The hardware lock is a device which attaches to the parallel port of
your computer. Its only purpose is to serve as a piracy protector by
acting as the required key or password that allows your AutoCAD system to
operate. Without your hardware lock properly attached, you will not be
able to access your AutoCAD software.
Q: What is the difference between the "AutoCAD R13 Professional Bundle For
Students" and the "Autodesk Collection"?
A: The "AutoCAD Release 13 Professional Bundle For Students" is
manufactured directly by Autodesk. This bundle includes AutoCAD R13,
AutoVision and AutoCAD Designer. The "R13 Professional Bundle" comes with
full factory documentation and is fully upgradeable. The "Autodesk
Collection" is manufactured by Addison Wesley. This product includes
AutoCAD R12, AutoVision, AutoCAD Designer and 3D Studio 2.0. The
"Autodesk Collection" is sold in CD-ROM format only, includes Installation
Guide and is non-upgradeable. (Note: Both packages are full, complete
software versions.)
Q: What are the qualifications to purchase AutoCAD at discounted

A: Depending on if you are a F/T or P/T student you have several options:
1. "The Autodesk Collection" is available to all P/T and F/T students of
an accredited College, University or Career School. In addition, High
School students who are currently in a CAD class qualify.
2. "AutoCAD Release 13 Professional Bundle" may be ordered by students
enrolled in a program that is at least 600 hours. That means all F/T
college students (regardless of their major) qualify.
Proof of student status will be required. (i.e., Student ID or class
schedule.) Faculty and Staff members also qualify for these discounts.
