In article <4m02qi$i...@lily.csv.warwick.ac.uk>, es...@csv.warwick.ac.uk says...

If you are using Windows version no problem. Type the alt key and print screen
key together and you will copy the current screen to the clipboard. From there
you can do with it what you like. The only thing you dont get is the mouse
pointer. You can always add this from paint or simular.

Regards Murray.

Here's a program called Neograb that will work for you. It makes PCX files.

G'day,

If you are using AutoCAD for Windows, then pressing the Print Screen button
copies the screen image to the clipboard.

You didn't say which platform you are running AutoCAD from. If you are
running from Windows, Alt-PrintScreen will capture the active window (so
be sure AutoCAD is the active window) the press Alt-PrintScreen. You
will then be able to use a program that can display bitmaps to
display/edit/print the captured bitmap.

What version Autocad are you using?

If it a Windows Version, you can simply use a screen capture program
like SnapShot (available as shareware) to capture the screen.

If it is a DOS version, you'll probably need to get a copy of a TSR
that will stay resident until you press some bizzare keystroke. I
used to have one, but I haven'tused DOS in such a long time I can't
even remember it's name (it came with Adobe Photoshop or Aldus
Pagemaker).

Good Luck,

If its DOS ACAD you want, follow the instructions in the installation
guide to set it up as a full screen application in Windows. While in DOS
ACAD from Windows just press the print screen button. This places a copy
of the screen image in the clipboard. Start up any Windows graphics
application and paste the clipboard contents into it.

But if you're using DOS, you'll have found that printscreen gives you a
fairly black page. Try reconfiguring the screen colours so that all
backgrounds are black. Then printscreen gives quite a good result.

If I'm not mistaken, if you are using R12 or higher there is a saveimage
command that will save current viewport and or full screen out to a
couple of file formats

For the DOS, Hotshot Graphics from SymSoft Inc, PO Box 4477, Mountain View,
CA 94040 - works up to VGA resolution (used it many years ago). It has a TSR
Grab facility and a graphics editor as part of the package.
Another oldie for DOS is Dan Bricklin's DEMO II. It too have a capture
facility. Very nifty for creation of prototypes, demo and tutorial type of
work.

Try the shareware program "Paint Shop Pro". Its available on the net and
has a capture screen capability that allows you to do what you've
described in Windows.

You can also try using the Alt+Print Screen (or is it Ctrl+Print Screen)
keyboard buttons together to the current screen into Clipboard which can then
be used to paste into various Windows programs.
