A building is modeled by creating its various surfaces and then
attaching TIFF (or other) image data generated from photographs of the
surfaces. Will the image data be included in a DXF file of this model?
Is there something special that needs to be done to make this happen?

If this is a actual 3D model of a building we're talking about, AutoCAD by
itself does not allow you to "map" a TIF image onto a surface. 3DStudio, and
visualization programs that run inside AutoCAD such as Accurender, AutoVision
and Ketiv's ARE do allow you do that. Unfortunatley, and file saved as a DXF
file will not be able to contain the "mapping" knowledge created. At this time
it seems the DXF format (as far as 3D is concerned) is pretty much only good
for translating the structure of the model itself.
