I want to connect PCs together which runs AutoCAD. My company uses
a CAD software runs only on RS/6000 (AIX), also. These 2 software share
the CAD data. Project team also share the data and work on it together.
I want to place the data one place somewhere ( PC or RS or ? ), and
let the users share it . The users use both AutoCAD and the CAD software
on RS depending on their needs. Plotting and accounting are set up and
done on RS.
AutoCAD seems to access the network a lot, so the access speed to the
remote data is very important.
What kind of solution would achieve my goal beautifully and efficiently?
Use NFS and make RS a server? Separeate the PC and RS world and use ftp
as needed? Use PC as a server and let RS access to the data?
At this point, I am open to numerous solutions.
What software should I use for the networking and sharing data?
Does anybody has similar situation?
Any comments are appreciated.
Thank you.
