The AutoCAD window associated with Batch Plot should not be accessed during
batch plotting unless it is waiting for user input due to drawing load or
plot problems.
Note: The Batch Plot utility does not work with Release 14 or previous
versions of AutoCAD.
The Batch Plot Utility main window displays the following information for
each drawing you add.
Drawing File
The name of the drawing to be plotted.
Path
The full path for the drawing file.
Layout
The name of the layout you want to plot.
Page Setup
The name of the page setup for plotting this drawing. You can choose from
any page setup in the drawing.
Plot Device
The name of the PC3 file for plotting the drawing. You can choose any
available PC3 file and override the device setting in the page setup.
The Batch Plot utility does not provide a way to edit drawings or make
modifications to existing device configurations, nor does it provide a way
to manipulate views to be plotted. Because of this, it's best to set up a
batch plot in AutoCAD as follows:
a.. Review each drawing to make sure it is complete, and save it with the
view you want to plot. The Batch Plot utility plots the default view.
a.. If a single plotter is to be used for the batch, verify the default
plotter configuration. If you want to use multiple configurations of a
single device, create and save the configurations as PC3 files before you
create the batch.
b.. If multiple devices are to be used for the batch, verify the
configurations of the devices and save them as PC3 files.
a.. The Batch Plot utility saves the AutoCAD window size in batch list
files to preserve plotting aspect ratios when plotting with the Display
option. Adjust the AutoCAD window size, if needed, before plotting or saving
a batch.
Once you complete these preliminary steps, create the batch file list by
choosing the drawing files and then specifying the layout, page setup, and
plot device to use for each drawing.
You can test the batch plot before plotting. AutoCAD loads but does not plot
each drawing in the batch. You can check for missing xrefs, fonts, or
shapes. If you encounter errors, quit the Batch Plot utility. Open the
drawing, address the issues, and save the drawing.
By creating a log file, you can also record who plotted each drawing and
when, and any errors encountered during plotting.
