Hi, Martin:
As far as I remember - S3 Virge should be working normally with
AutoCAD r.12 for DOS under the standard AutoCAD's VESA Super VGA
ADI v4.2 Display driver.
1. Try to start Acad_12.bat file with -r option. To get at once
in the "Configuration Menu" without loading a drawing editor.
2. In "Configuration Menu" select menu item:
"3. Configure video display".
3. From the drivers list, which has appeared on the screen, chose:
"VESA Super VGA ADI v4.2 Display and Rendering - by Autodesk"
4. Then, answering on appearing inquiries, configure the driver.
1-st ADVICE: Don't specify a very large screen resolution at once.
Begin from 640x480 or 800x600. And if all will be
"in order" with the display picture - try to increase
the resolution up to 1024x768 or higher.
2-nd ADVICE: Protect Your eyes. Don't forget to place a call of the
S3refresh driver in Yours autoexec.bat. This driver will
be establishing the vertical frequencies of the display
regeneration for the different display resolutions.
Example:
C:\DRV\S3\S3REFRSH 91a0
P.S. If You don't Have the S3Refresh driver I can send it to Your.
With the best regards from Kiev:
