I'm getting desperate here so I'll try to simplify the most pressing
question I have right now.
Why when I create multiple viewports in paperspace and then change the scale
of the individual viewports and then try to toggle between the viewports in
model space do both viewports revert to some strange scale that I've not
selected. It doesn't matter if I lock the viewports and I'm zooming in the
vports either.
This is driving me nuts. Any help appreciated.

What is giving you the indication that their scale is changed? How are you
changing the scale when you purposely change it? Floating viewport scale is
a zoom factor relative to paper space. I have a tool that will return the
viewport scale in the appropriate units for the drawing's unit settings
among other things. If you are interested go to my web site and select View
Mgmt under the Free AutoLisp section of my nav bar. Its called VSTAT.LSP

The viewport stays the same size and the drawing contained within the
viewport zooms extents (or way out at any rate)

How are you
> changing the scale when you purposely change it?

Select the viewport, right click, object properties, standard scale and
entering 1"=1' (for example.
I also used zoomxp with the same results (when you change zoom xp you also
change the standard scale)

Floating viewport scale is

Something to definitely look into after I get this problem solved.

Additional simplification. It seems to be happening "only" in the drawing
I'm currently working on. I did a test and opened a new drawing, drew a
little junk in model space, switched to paperspace and created viewports
with different scales no problem. Toggling was not an issue.
Any Ideas what could cause this to be a problem in one drawing and not
another?
My regens are damn slow because I have numerous sections in model space. The
file size is around 2meg without the xref loaded in (I have it unloaded for
faster regens).
At least I know that I'm not totally out of touch here.
I'm running a P3 450 with 128 meg RAM.
Any help appreciated.

Did you create the drawing yourself? Is there any chance it's being done by
a VBA macro?

Just an off the wall thought, Eddie. I can't think of anything else that
would do that.

Tom,
Yeah I did create the drawing myself and figured out the problem last night.
See my "Problem Solved" post and the reply to S. Yoder in my PS VPort
Scaling post.
Thanks for your interest as always.
