Does anyone know of a book that describes how to scan a paper drawing, convert it to
vector or AutoCAD drawing and insert / manipulate the image in AutoCAD.
Any information is greatly appreciated !!
Thank you in advance for your time.
Scott
P.S. AutoCAD version is: AutoCAD LT 97 [ compatible to release 13 or 14 I think ??? ]

Send replies to me by Email or to this newsgroup.
Thanks again. [ please correct the release compatibility number if not correct ]

Convert scanned dwgs to "vector file" or insert/manipulate them in AutoCAD??...
I know AutoCAD accept "raster file" images and insert them as "Raster image"...After
inserting them maybe you can "trace/manipulate" over them--might take time though... :)

If you are talking about an image like a photo, you can import the scanned raster image as
a block with PCXIN, TIFFIN,etc. but you can't edit the image.
If you mean an engineering type line drawing, the scanned drawing can be converted with a
Raster to Vector program. They are expensive, but there are some demos that may be OK for
you.

For engineering type drawings, there's a relatively inexpensive raster
to vector program out there that works with your scanner. GO to
http://www.rastertovector.com/ to learn more about it. We downloaded
the demo version, and the resulting image was identical in quality as
the scanned and converted image we paid $60US to have done elsewhere.
