A customer just sent a .DAT file for a switch they want quoted. What kind
of program do I need to open it?

TIA,

Mike

Try Notepad?? Usually dat (data) files are just text files ... never heard
of an application that would use them as their extension.

Sorry ... .dat files can also be graphics images out of a digital camera
that someone neglected to save as a jpg or something for you. Try lview pro
or any graphics viewer program ....

Hello Michael.
Email programs sometimes end up changing the extension of attached files to
DAT. If you received this file trough an email, rename it to commonly used
extensions and then try to open it. (dwg, dxf, etc?). Other than that, your
best shot would be to actually contact the client and ask?
Good Luck.
