After watching Leonardo DiCaprio play Howard Hughes in the movie Aviator,
I am more and more convinced that the character TV character Adrian Monk
is nothing more than whining, sniveling, egotist.
Why no one has ever hit him, I will never know.
Where is his compassion or sympathy for others ?
Has this man no empathy for other peoples foibles or eccentricities
what so ever ?
Why must the rest of world for ever apologize to him, for not meeting his
standards of perfection if not symmetry ?
Can you imagine an episode in which Mr.Monk is called as a witness,
and while in court an unethical lawyer knowing of Adrian Monk's
mental problem does everything possible to make Monk freak out !

He has overcome some of his worst fears on a number of occasions and risked
his life to save the lives of others. You have to keep his other annoyances
in perspective.

Sure, he's a whining, self-absorbed, inconsiderate individual, but yeah,
mental illness can do that to a person. Fear is one of the most difficult
emotions of all to face, let alone overcome.

I've suffered from one phobia and it's drastically affected my life and my
personality. I can't even imagine what suffering from as many as the Monk
characters suffers from would do to a person.
