I install AT&T Digital cable and one of the problems I see all the
time is factory default tv picture settings. Most installers won't
fix this for you.

Here's the scenerio. Joe customer go's to Best Buy and gets a
spankin' new television with all the bells and whistles and figures,
this will look AWESOME with Digital Cable. Then after the install is
dissapointed. Why? Be cause the DCT output is a little richer than
analog cable.

Go into your picture settings and you'll find that "picture" is
usually maxed out, back it way off. Also check "contrast" and
"sharpness" where applicable. They allways max these at the factory,
I have no friggin idea why! Oh yeah, also color may need to be backed
off so everyones face isn't beet red.

Good luck!

The vast majority of TV viewers - I'd say, 99 out of 100 - care only that
their new TV actually provide picture and sound, and not a shred about
the quality of either.

BTW the maxed out settings are so the TV stands out on a showroom
floor crowded with other displays. And consumers simply do not care
about removing them from that abhorrent mode.

This is why threads about tv calibration die young on usenet.
