Where can I at least get some?
Thanks
....Welcome to Bestline its your dah dah dah dah dah....
Of all the mlm's, though, this was not one of the best. They used
to claim they were third in the direct marketing world, ie behind
Avon and Amway. But at least they came right out and said to you:
"Under the pyramid sales act, we are required to tell you .....
[essentially, that they were a pyramid]..."
They said that their form of pyramid would not collapse as the
others had to because they restricted access to the distributorships
over time, so the thing could not collapse as most pyramids do.
The message was that it was all right to be a pyramid sales company,
just as long as you told your suckers you were a pyramid sales co.
I was involved, using pure greed as a motivator, way back in the 70's.
I even made a list of things I would buy (Sony Betamax, Corvette, etc)
with my new found wealth. It's amazing how unemployment makes one
suggestible to these things.
Someone warned me off with what I see now to be a reasonable,
objective message. He said "Go down to the loading dock, and watch the
people returning the boxes and boxes of soap they can't sell."
Facts like that are hard to dispute. They had inventory-loading, whereby
you could become a direct distributer by purchasing $6000 (about $25,000
in today's $$) of soap, or you could work your ass off for so long until
your sales matched that, years later, when everybody else in the world
would have already become a direct, and _then_ make it. When I told them
I would join in but didn't have that cash to invest, they said to go
borrow it from my family. ("Haven't you got any brothers or sisters or
friends?") A friend of mine successfully warned me off then, by asking
me "What kind of people would ask you to borrow money from your family
for a business venture like this? If it was worth anything, you could
borrow the money somewhere else..."
The products did seem okay by me, but I was disturbed by one of their
tactics. This was the dawning of the age of ecology, and everyone wanted
to get phosphates out of the laundry, so they made a big thing about
a phosphate-free detergent. Then, at product seminars, they would
throw in the suggestion that to get your clothes a little whiter,
add a squirt of Zif to the laundry...thereby putting the phosphate
right back in. Another product they had was a rug cleaner. It was
purported to have "optical brighteners" in it. I don't know how
may other types of brighteners there are...anyway, my first customer
bought some of this and cleaned her rugs and was really amazed.
They must have been optically brightened. Three days later she needed
to do it again, as the brighteners faded...
The last I heard, many moons ago, was they were all thrown into jail
for fraud. I had already escaped from Ontario by then...
Because of Bestline I stayed away from Amway for many years, not
trusting any mlm, and believing like many net.people that mlm's are
scams. One of my prospects way back then was into Amway - I wish she
had counter-recruited me! When I heard about the government suit
against Amway for tax evasion, I immediately thought, Yeah, they
are all a bunch of crooks. How wrong I was [about Amway, that is].
Meanwhile, I bet there are a whole lot of people out there who have
basements full of Zif for you. I seem to remember it was quite a good
cleaner, but when I got into Amway, I noticed right away that the
Industroclean product smelled an awful lot like Zif.
Wanna buy some? See your friendly neighbourhood Amway dealer...
