I received a call last week (August 21from someone who said he needed to
make an appointment in Okemos, Michigan concerning a sales position for
selling benefits to small business owners. He explained that there was no
cold calling and appointments were set, and that they had offices all
throughout the US. The "company website" he gave me was www.nase.org, the
National Association for the Self Employed. Whether or not they are
directly affiliated with them is beyond me.
Then the caller proceded to tell me that first years' expected earnings were
between 60-75K. I am a professional with sales experience so this did not
seem high to me. He also gave me the number to call in Okemos in case I got
lost, which was 517-347-6690. This is the number for the Holiday Inn
Express, where they rent out conference rooms to talk people into their
plan. I was not told that this was the Holiday Inn, I assumed this was an
office. When I got there and saw the Conference Center building was
actually adjoining the hotel.
I also was given a number to call, which was their headquarters in Dallas.
This is actually the number for Zayti and Associates located in Michigan.
The number is 248-588-2252 and the man claimed he was from a company called
The United Group Association. The person I was to meet at the hotel, of
course, was none other than Mark Zayti.
I think this lasted a total of 10 minutes. I and two other people were led
to a conference room, where we were given colorful brochures on how we could
make a lot of money by starting our own business with them and selling their
products (we have, of course, all heard of Amway.)
The other two men who walked out, and I stayed out of curiousity for a few
more minutes. Mark Zayti proceeded to tell me he made $250,000K per year,
and I could do the same. Then after a few questions I found out the job has
no base pay or benefits, to which I said I was not interested and left. He
was obviously angry and glared at me while he said "Thank you for coming."
I am only hoping that if anyone gets a suspicious call from this company,
that they will do a search for the name or the number and be able to read
this message. I drove an hour to get to this "interview" and it was a
horrible waste of time.
