Do you have an interest learning how to raise money for businesses? I have
had an interest in this subject for close to twenty years. During this
period I took one company public and started two other privately-held ones.
Raising financing was always an interesting challenge. Without money you
can't go very far with your business plan.

Have you noticed how some business-people are adept at getting the money
they need while others (the majority) find raising capital an insurmountable
problem? I was in the latter category when I started my entrepreneurial
career. At the time I was fresh out of university with student loans which
needed to be paid off. My family wasn't in a position to help out much. So
I figured I had to learn the tricks of raising money for myself --and I had
to learn fast.

Fortunately for me I have always been able to apply myself when the subject
had anything to do with money. So for about 15 years I researched and
collected stories on a hobby-like basis about how creative entrepreneurs
were able to raise money. Some of the stories I came across were
astounding! These techniques were never taught in business school, yet they
worked (and they were legal!). For a few years I made money by providing
consulting expertise to corporations needing money. However, my heart was
always in running small manufacturing companies, so I dropped the consulting
sideline altogether after a few years.

Then in early 1995, a friend suggested that I write a book about raising
capital which would incorporate all my knowledge. To make a long story
short, it took me about 6 months to finish the first draft. Now I share my
expertise with others by offering them the book, The Bootstrapper's Guide to
Raising Capital.

How to Finance the Start-up and Growth of Your Business:

Finally, there is a manual for the entrepreneur seeking capital written by a
fellow entrepreneur. The author has been raising money since the early
eighties for his own companies, both private and publically-held. The
motivation behind writing The Bootstrapper’s Guide was to make the playing
field for cash-strapped
entrepreneurs and cash-rich investors more level.

Frequently asked Questions about the book:

* Is this a simple rehash of material found elsewhere? No. Most of this
material is original and presented in a simple and straightforward manner.
You will not need a degree in finance to understand it.

* How long is it? Sixty dense pages of size 10 Times New Roman font.

* What will I learn from it?:

-You will learn the magic of “smoke and mirrors” tricks to make your
start-up look big and solid to customers and suppliers alike.

-You will learn how to work like a seasoned detective to find those elusive
private investors (who happen to supply by far the bulk of private
investment).

-You will learn what really inspires confidence in potential investors—and
it’s not a business plan!

-You will have achance to step inside the shoes of a veteran investor to
learn what thoughts go through their mind when you appraoch them for money.

-You will learn how to package your “deal” to maximize its attractiveness to
investors.

-You will learn why it’s often a better idea —as well as easier— to buy an
existing company than start one up from scratch.

-And you will learn how to leverage your assets to purchase an operating
company.

-You will learn dozens of ingenious ways of both raising and “finding”
money.

-You will learn how to sell prospective customers on helping to finance your
new business

-You will learn how to market test your idea with the low cost "Vaporware"
strategy

-You will learn the one way to borrow from family and friends without
straining these important realtionships.

-You will learn techniques for financing those "impossible-to-finance"
service businesses.

-The glossary will teach you the language of finance so that you can sound
like a seasoned professional in negotiations with investors and lenders.
