I am planning on converting my attic into a habitable room. With the floor
supported on 2 off 8in x 4in rsj's at 3.9 m apart which according to UK regs
need 8in x 2in joists.This will achieve a max headroom of 6ft 2ins.
I am thinking If I replaced the joists with rsj's which could be welded or
fabricated to the two main supporting beams I would increase the headroom.
1 Would UK Building regs allow this.
2 What size rsj's would I need to replace the 8 x 2 joists.
Thank you for any help you can offer
