I am interested in Open Space Planning, Outdoor Recreation Planning,
Park Management, etc. Having graduated with a Bachelor's degree in
Parks and Recreation / Natural Resource Management, I have had the
opportunity to work for the National Park Service, the U.S. Forest
Service and the Pennsylvania State Park Service. But, now I am having
trouble finding employment in the field.
The environment is an important issue in today's society.
Visitation at our National Parks is growing every year. My local county
park is trying to get on its feet as the natural and recreational center
for our area. But there are few agencies that specialize in Planning.
How do I take my degree and experience and translate it into
management plans for parks, bike trails, outdoor recreation centers,
etc.? I want to encourage people to get out into nature and learn and
have fun. But I want to provide places and opportunities for them to do
this that will also preserve and protect the very nature they are
enjoying.
