Hello,
We are a company that is working with epoxy restoration in large timber
beams. These beams can reach a size of up to one meter in diameter and a
length of fifteen meters.
Normally the heads of the beams which are in contact with the walls have a
serious infestation from fungal and wood boring insects that has
consequently weakened the structural integrity of the complex.
Previously we have used a heavy-weighing industrial epoxy resin to restore
the timbers. We are searching for a "restorer" that will rebind the wooden
fibers together thus sealing these fibers themselves from water and creating
a more compatible molecular structure with the wood and eliminating the
possibilities of cracking which is the case with resin epoxies. We wish to
have this in a liquid form that can be pored, brushed, or sprayed on. We
will also apply it to the exterior wall of the building to seal the area
against water as well as to the interior wall where the beam will be
replaced. This must not cause any damage to the walls. We work with
structures that are protected monuments and built in the beginning of the
ninth century.
This product should not allow water to pass through as this is the main
form of spore transmission of wet and dry rot.
Once this "restorer" is in place we would then add a light weight industrial
filler that has a high tensile properties as well as capabilities for
shaping and molding so that we have the possibilities to create the illusion
of wood grains and sculptures.
