Existing Preservation Lists
For those wishing to engage with an existing pool of historic
preservationists in ongoing community there are two existing e-mail
lists. Both lists represent virtual communities of historic
preservation.
Preservation-L
A large and international pool of practitioners. Representation by
professionals in the historic preservation field; primarily architects,
engineers, conservators, and institutions. Appropriate to those who like
to attend lectures and slide shows at conferences in search of technical
information pertaining to historic preservation. The straight and narrow
path. If you think someone is off track on this list you get to
complain. There are many lurkers on this list. This list is a vital
tool if you are seeking technical information or an internship.

Subject:> enter SUBSCRIBE PRESERVATION-L.
Bullamanka-Pinheads
Historic preservation free range. Representation by anyone who considers
themselves a preservationeer. Appropriate for those who like to stand
outside of the auditorium and talk shop, crack bad jokes, write stupid
stories, share poems, and do just about anything absurd. A motivated
eccentricity of serious professionals who have been around enough to not
give a rat's tuckus. Few topics are off track on this list. There is a
no-lurker policy on this list, you are expected to contribute. This list
is a vital tool if you are seeking human contact and relationship
building.

Hi,
Wrote to both of the addresses listed below:
"MAJO...@MAJORDOMO.NETCOM.COM" is not the address of a preservation mail
list, it is an internal Netcom account.
"LIST...@MAELSTROM.STJOHNS.EDU" has never heard of the so called
"Bullamanka-Pinheads" or the list by that name.
So is this just a spam that I was suckered into, or do real preservation
lists exist? If so please post the real, actual addresses.

Not sure what to tell you. I would try again. I'm not sure if you used all
caps, but I didn't. It may make a difference. I used the same address and I'm
subscribed now.
