Hi all,

My builder sealed my back and front porch and garage concrete with a product called Kure-N-Seal
30. It looks kind of bad with light and dark areas. He says it will even out in a few weeks
or months as the concrete cures. Is he trying to BS me? It looked great before they applied
the sealer. The can says it's for industrial use only, not residential. It contains
Naphtha-light aromatic, 1,2,4 trimethyl benzene, and xylene.

I wonder if it's possible to remove the stuff.

TIA,

Jim

i'm not a total expert on how sealers take on every material
there is, but i have to say i saw a sealing job done on a
new construction house in a huge developement and
it had a very similiar blotchy look like you describe and
when i saw it, thinking i was an expert, told my friend that
had just bought the house, that i thought something MUST
be wrong here, he told me his builder said exactly what
yours did, and sure enough, the next time i went out there
about 2 months later, IT WAS BEAUTIFUL...all the blotches
had disappeared...so i would trust what you builder said until
enough time has passed that it is for certain that it will
not improve in appearance...can it be fixed in case it doesn't
cure out nicely? yes, i haven't run across much in the way
of tough stains, etc on cement that CAN'T be fixed, so don't
worry is my opinion...

It'll even out like he said. It would be a bad job if he hadn't used it.

If you don't want it, don't put any more on. It will wear off after a few
years of use. It would be smart however, to maintain a seal on the outdoor
concrete. It makes it stay nice longer.
