fairly new to pneumatic nailers. on recommendation, i recently
aquired a NIB Stanley/Bostitch 16g angled finish nailer (N62FN) on
eBay at a excellent price for some exterior finish work on the house.
i understand it uses "BFN styles" ("brad finish nail" ???) and have
stocked a couple lengths from the Stanley/Bostitch fastener line.
what i was wondering, what other brands (f any) of nailer use this
same type nail (the one chart i have located shows only Bostitch
N62FN and N60FN ... while all other 15g angled nailers - Senco,
Porter Cable, Hitachi.... *seem* to share another type).
anyone know what the differences between these two groups ????
in particular, i am looking to 2P bright and galvanized finish nails
(1"), the smallest size this nailer is supposed to use but one that
S/B dosn't seem to stock this size) ...after looking around, found
2P brights for Senco at:
http://www.nailzone.com/nlbrad.htm#sen15
and trying to figure out if they'll work in my nailer before i shell
out the dollars.

Good buy for under $250, great buy for 200-ish.

You can find knock-off's for Bostitch which will cost less money and
perform less well (only professionals will exceed a zero-balance). The
other brand nails you've listed will _not_ fit in a Bostitch.

I iterate, Senco finish nails will not fit a Bostitch finish gun.
Moreover, I wonder what type of work you aim to do with a trim gun when
you should be using a brad gun. In other words, if your gun will shoot
2 1/2" nails, it'll shoot 1" nails _really fast_!

.. even better , snagged it for $175 NIP on auction

pretty much assumed as much .. just curious about *why* (the first
collated pneumatic finsih nailer in the tool collection ...).
guessing a S/B unique nail-type (related to the stated "BFN" type
????) .. seeking the exact details of *why* one won't work in the
otrher to better understand these new working territories ... heading
out to hardware store tomorrow and opening some boxs to figure it out
visually ....

resources ... just trying to make-do with the trim gun until i can
divert $100-150 from tool budget to get a dedicated 18g, 2",
oil-free. brad nailer. theory i'm working on is that nails for a
existing gun are cheaper than than a new gun and will carry over
until you can afford another gun ....

one of the selling point of this gun was the perfomance reviews (and
oil free ... last year took some oil in the eye from an exhaust that
got around my eye shields that screwed up vision for a couple weeks
...) ... purchased primarily to allow doing a lot of remodeling
trim/finish work on the house ... secondary to use on cabnetry /
furniture work until i could afford a suitable 18g brad nailer
