The quiz is UK-friendly for those of you with access to Sky or the
box-sets -- this year will consist of 240 questions covering Buffy Season 5
and Angel Season 2.
As always, we're starting with a 'warm-up' round which is available on the
site now. The scores won't count towards the main leaderboard -- it's just
an opportunity for you guys to know what to expect, and for me to make sure
everything is working properly. Due to the fact that for some reason Angel
questions seem a lot harder to come up with than Buffy ones this year, the
warm-up quiz is Buffy only. The main quiz will, of course, be split equally
between the two shows.
The main quiz will once again be running from the 1st to the 20th of
December, 10 questions per day, with four double-length rounds.
Hope you enjoy the quiz, and good luck!

Oooh! Yippeee!
C'mon, join in the fun. We did it last year, was quite amusing...the
sample/practice questions are quite difficult, actually. 7/10 for me..

Just finished the test for my first day :)

I'm SO gonna join. Did the sample quiz, also 7/10 :)
(Started panicking after I noticed that timer-thingie on the side ;P
That's not a bad score at all. Days vary in difficulty, but there are
very, very few perfect scores (unless you cheat, which is possible, but
there's no fun in that..)

Hehehe...ah yes, the pesky timer thingy. Very, very evil. But necessary.
Otherwise you would have time to search your transcripts.

Same here. Not very proud of myself!

I pretend to work. They pretend to pay me.
Yay!
I've been waiting for this, it's fun!

[jumping up and down]
I made 9/10.
I rule!
:P
(But will probably only make 1/10 in the main one just because I said this...)

Indeed. So far today (40 players in) the average score is just a fraction
over 5/10 -- with a single 10/10, a single 9/10 and a few 8s.

And we've had 2 people run out of time. ;-)

(who really hopes some kind person handed his Pocket PC into lost property
after his drunken train journey home last Friday, since it had half of the
questions on...)
As with last year, as well as the overall scoreboard I'll be keeping
separate Buffy and Angel ones in order to give those people who only watch
one show, or are behind in one of them, something to aim for.
Ah! Music to my ears :)

That's exluding repeats, I take it? But hey, wowza. What kind of 'cheat
protection' is there, if any?

Figures...it's happened to me once or twice, but only on the older,
general quiz type questions. Where the timer seemingly decided that half
a candle was all I'd get...the 'normal' quiz timer, OTOH, worked fine.

Oh, bah bah bah....lets hope so.
Yep.

How many did you guess at? Honestly? I guessed at about 4 (three of
which I got, well, dead wrong.)
> (But will probably only make 1/10 in the main one just because I said this...)
Murphy's Law, eh?
It's mainly manually done -- the IP address of players gets sent to me, so
it's easy to spot people who score 4/10 then come back ten minutes later and
score 10/10 (especially if they use the same name, as half of them tend to
do!) I also check the web log for people who do particularly well to ensure
they're only loading the file with that day's questions in once (so reading
the questions and then reloading the page without sending the results won't
work!)
I try to give people the benefit of the doubt in case of computer / site
crashes, at least the first couple of times, plus I have to consider that
there might often be a couple of people who both want to play from the one
machine. Ultimately there are no actual prizes involved, and it's not as
though I get thousands of players, so I like to think that most people who
make the effort to play through all 240 questions are playing honestly...
Lucky Libran
Honestly?
One.
The one that I got wrong. I couldn't remember Warren's last name.
With all the others I could see each scene in front of me.
Is this the time when I should start to wonder wether I'm 'fanatic' fan?
:)

Hmmm....only having watched each ep once (mostly) doth have it's
disadvantages..

Whooo! The waiting is finally over. It has been a long year of replaying
the quiz, learning the Watcher's Guides and Monster Book by heart and
memorizing the transcripts. But I'm ready now.
Let the black-out begin!
