Hi everyone,
just a few thoughts on the current language debate.
I think the reason I like this NG compared to the other ones (and the reason
I don't want to stop coming here), is that the other posters are at the same
point in watching Buffy that I am, so to go to a group where it mainly
Americans posting would be a waste of time, because I have no idea what they
are talking about, and I don't want to spoil the new series.
The only thing that spoils this NG, is the language, now maybe we should
take a vote, deciding whether we should create an all new English speaking
NG, or get the French to move out. The only thing I know, is that it cant
carry on the way it is, as the clashing of up to 5 different languages is
just going to discourage everyone from posting; and what's the point in
that? Nobody wins.
I know this sounds like stating the obvious, but the sooner a new NG is
created, the better. Any volunteers?

I totally agree with you even if I don't think like you do that postings in
non-English language are unbearable.
If English people really think that they can't post here if French are
posting in French, so French will have to post in English or create a new NG
(as English were posting here before they arrived).
But, in my opinion, people have been posting in the language they wanted for
a long time, and it's never been a huge issue like it is today. We all have
to think about it, be more tolerant, and let's all wonder if we really need
to understand all the postings. If each country had his NG, it would be so
stupid, as Internet is supposed to link people from everywhere...
Let's just think about that.

Hello,

I don't think it's a problem if people put their language in the subject line.
If I see for instance that the posting is in French I don't bother to read it
since I can't read that language.

Was there a German message in this NG? Must have missed it. And
I've been here since this group started.

a.b.e. still is a european newsgroup and i really don't mind posts in
another language, if i don't understand, i don't read.
Especially when the subject only concerns one country (like the
sceduling on Net5 in Holland) it might even be more annoying if it were
in english, cos it makes no sense if you don't live there.
And as for people who just don't know english, i think there should be
an opportunity for them to talk about Buffy without starting a whole
new newsgroup (it's not that easy).
And at the moment this newsgroup isn't *that* busy that a few
unnessesary messages really bother me.

Hello,
I am french, I don't unterstand all your message.
Do you want to say that you prefer this NG because the americans are in the
fourth season and you (we) are in the third?
Do you to mail to the french or not?
That's all.
Explain me at : kik...@club-internet.fr

Yes you are right.
I (and others like me) prefer this NG because most of the people who write
to it are about at the same point in the series.
In other newsgroups where a lot of Americans write to, they are already far
into season four. It makes no sense to start reading those posts because
we havn't got a clue what they are talking about. And I for one don't want
to know what is going to happen in advance.

Mail to French posters and read their mail ? Of course, but only if they
write in English (or Dutch or German), because I can't read or write in
French. And I believe most British and Dutch can't as well.
So all the commotion lately is not personal, it's a language problem. So I
say again, the majority of posters who write in English don't mind if French
write in their own language, if only you put in a "French" warning in your
header.
But I would prefer it if more French would write in English because I am
curious about your views and want to find out where you are in the series.

Greetings, Rob

Hi,

watch season 4 of buffy (tonight) and wouldn't understand what the American
posters were talking about. I hope you understand this(ive not done French
since i was at school).
