Upsides: Showing Giles as more of a human being and seeing him in
trouble without being able to solve it and having him lie to Buffy+co is
a welcome change. It gives him more character. And even if i didn't get
the whole Eyghon stuff, it's still a pretty good skeleton to have in
your closet. Also seeing Giles with Ethan was great.
Jenny and Giles kissing in the beginning was really sweet.
The final solution by using Angel was pretty cleaver.
Buffy's option for "Anywhere but here"......if only it was true. (and
btw, who is John Cusack ?)

Revenge, maybe? for trying to use the demon for their own purposes,
and/or for banishing it to wherever?
: Where was it all that time between being summoned and this ep. ?
Common fanon is that somehow the Halloween hijinks, either Ethan's
spell or the Ripperizing of Giles or whatever, might've triggered
Eyghon's awakening. (That, or it's possible whatever attempts Giles
and company made to get rid of the demon had a time expiry.) If it
had been banished to or trapped in some nowhere realm, and only
triggered recently, then it wouldn't have been able to track and kill them.
: Deidre's body was decaying so she must have been
: dead before Eyghon jumped to her, so how did she die and most of all,
: how was she able to get to America ?
Fly? (Not literally. Airplane. Then again, possibly literally; who
knows what winged demons owed Eyghon a favor.) And, given the
progression with Jenny, it's possible there was some pre-decay time in
which Dierdre-Eyghon could get over to America. (Especially if it
just possessed her instead of beating her to a pulp first.)
: Giles knows more about Eyghon then
: anyone, how could he not know the demon was in Jenny, as she was the
: only unconscious one when Philip actually died ?
Drunk, and not considering the possible ramifications? It's also
possible that they'd always used some sort of ritual to induce Eyghon
to jump in (and then back out), and he didn't realize that it could be
done without that ritual. He also wasn't really paying attention to
puddle-of-goo-that-was-Philip while it was gooing (heh) into Jenny.
: Why didn't Giles/Ethan get rid of the tattoo long ago ?
With Giles, perhaps a reminder of old mistakes. (If Eyghon had been
gone, as he thought, the tattoo was harmless demonically.) Though
that wouldn't really hold with Ethan. Mark of pride? <g>
Or maybe removing the tattoo would have brought Eyghon back. If the
mark was like a beacon, removing the mark would probably be an equally
strong signal. It's also possible that Ethan knew this, hence not
removing the mark until there was someone to take his place as Eyghon
fodder, and/or that this whole thing, instead of being triggered by
Ethan or Giles, was because one of the others in the group tried to
have the tattoo removed.
