Hi all,
Just had a major computer crash :-(
Lost most of my files (about 6 months worth of downloads.
The rest I had backed up, thank god) and I'm still working
on getting the compu to work again. Still haven't got my
soundcard to work at all (if anyone has some drivers for the
Pro sound PV270 PCI Sound Card just lying around, please
send them over ;-)). Just got my modem to kick in again
(that took about a day and a half of hard work :-( ). My old
internet connection isn't working and I've lost just about
all of my programs...

Ah well I'm just testing if this, at least, is working
again...

See Ya,
George
Severly frustrated by all this....

Yup. Yesterday I was really depressed (I had the worst weekend
*ever*. My compu crashed, my cat died and I had (have) the flue
:-( ), but today I'm feeling a bit better. Compu's starting to
work again (I have sound! Yay!), my connections working (not my
regular wxs account yet, so I can't send any mail...which
basically sucks) and all the other stuff is slowly coming
together. But reinstalling everything and all is not a good
thing. Plus I've learned my lesson. I'm going to be backing up
my downloads and other essentials regularly now.

See Ya,
George

I know the feeling, I was very glad that I burned the things
I downloaded regularly, It takes some time to build up after
a crash again, but because I burned my downloads to CD it took
a lot less time to build up again(and you have older versions
which work better sometimes :o) ) But crashes are still a drag.
And I had to download all windows shit again from their site
to get the windows 98 second thingy all working again, and
that took damned long(especially with my provider), why those
files are not zipped so that I can burn them too to CD, I don`t know
but it is a f..... drag. But we all know that M$ sucks.
(for clues how to burn that second edition stuff on CD, please feel free)
I feel for you, it took me about 2 weeks to get it back the way I wanted it.
And thats a bit different then problems I had long ago with my amiga
computers,
One would just throw a program over that, and it was fixed.
Only One fatal crash in many years, and that was my own fault.

Oh man, crashes suck big time :(

I'm glad I use Norton Ghost; if the system goes down, i have it back
up in a few minutes

Good luck and all recovering your computer :)
