Some other stuff that's been kicking around my brain...

Firstly, I'm going to shift the blame for the relative flatness of that
final scene from DG to DB. "I hardly think it's fair to blame it on the
writing" and all that, and I think it was DB's acting that didn't quite
hit the spot for me.

(Of course, didn't help that there were some jarring moments elsewhere in
the ep that *were* down to the writing; I'm still amazed that the
'styrofoam cup' moment made it in)

Secondly - is the prophecy fulfilled? The Loa's statement about Angel
devouring his son has come true; but are we meant to think this is a
clarification of the prophecy in 'Couplet', or a separate event? Also -
at the end of 'Sleep Tight' the ground shook, there was fire, and the sky
looked like blood. Hmmm.

Thirdly...it occurs to me that the next ep is make-or-break time for JB
(it is JB, right?). He's got a lot of character stuff to handle, and no TM
to back him up; I'll be interested to see how he does.

Lastly, a couple of things that have been mentioned on the alt group that
I think are interesting. One, a take on the 'who is Sahjan' debate - he's
some kind of balancing demon, created to balance the existence of Connor
who is good. That might explain why he hates Angel and wants Connor
killed.

The other thing is, there's a theory going around that Justine might be
being set up to be a new cast member (Dan Hartland came up with this idea,
as well). At this point, I'm pretty much resigned to the _Angel_ cast
expanding (I'll just keep telling myself '_Buffy_ S2 only had six
regulars'), and I actually quite quite excited about the prospect of
Justine sticking around. She's got the cynical thing going on, which I
like, and the group could use a new snarky character since Cordelia is
rapidly moving away from that role.

I haven't said much about this week's episode. I want to watch it again
because as much as I was enjoying myself, in hindsight something doesn't
feel right.

Hmmm, maybe. Sofar I don't find her that interesting, but I agree we could
use some balance there. Have you read SFX's Vampire Special? David Greenwalt
said something which I will repeat under spoiler space for those who really
really do not want to know if there are going to be new regulars or not.

Quote from page 55:

"We started the show with three characters. And we sort of continued on that
for a while. But what happened on Buffy? I think there's like 41 regulars
now. You can't get in the damn studio over there. And, again, it's a direct
influence of Joss. It's just like, 'get new people in the mix!' So there is
a bit of a trend of 'can we add a new character every year?' So far, we have
done that. And we're actually adding another new one at the end of this
year. It's not specific you know, it's not like the 11th Commandment. But
the bigger the family gets... And don't forget the Host is virtually a
regular on the show now, too. The more the merrier, in a way. More people
with more problems and more issues." So, who's the new character? have we
seen them already? "I forget, it's a big surprise".

unquote

Interesting... as long as it's not Holtz I'll have no problem with a new
regular.

For me, it's getting better as I think about it. I don't think there are
even any major plot holes, which is unusual for a Greenwalt ep. <g>

Yup, I've read it. Better keep the space, though...

Heh.

Well, I really don't want it to be Groo, but since I still see him dying a
tragic death before the end of the season, that's not so much of a
problem. I also wouldn't be thrilled for it to be Connor, but I think
that's the most likely prospect; then they can work the father/son angle
some more. Justine would be my first pick if they have to add somebody,
keeping Lorne as a recurring.

Assuming we already know him/her we would have a choice of the people you
mention yes. I really hope Connor is not going to stay. What will he
contribute apart from more oochie-coochie talk from Angel and the Host aka
Babysitter? Ugh. Blegh. No, he would only get in the way so I'm hoping for
an honerable yet dramatic death for Connor. Or at least disappearence until
he's well in his twenties.

Groo would be too sweet, despite the Arms (*sigh*). It's a terrible thing to
say, but sweetness is boring. On tv mind! (can't get enough of it IRL ;)).
So yes, for him too a good death please.

So, if I were allowed to choose then perhaps Justine wouldn't be so bad.

Or Amy. We could do with a loose-cannon-witch on Angel... Amy would be cool.

Or Skip! Skip would be cool. TPTB could send him to AI as an expat and in
the meantime he can help Cordy deal with being part demon. Even though that
hasn't been getting much attention.

Hands up anybody who thinks Connor is going to come back out of that
portal still a baby?

Thought so.

As amusing as it would be to have shots of a baby in the credits as a
member of the regular cast every week, I meant grown-up Connor.

> Groo would be too sweet, despite the Arms (*sigh*).

Likes Groo...does not like Holtz...cannot...resolve...conflict...

> So, if I were allowed to choose then perhaps Justine wouldn't be so bad.

It'll be growed-up Connor, betcha.

> Or Amy. We could do with a loose-cannon-witch on Angel... Amy would be cool.

Mmm, Amy.

Umm..

It could happen. But I don't see it, no.

Heh.

It's that shallowness/emotions thing. She likes Groo's arms. And hates
Holtz's hat. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

Mayhap. That would be....odd. Grew-up-in-a-demon-dimension Connor. Hey,
maybe he'll be a 14 year old brat! Like Dawn, last season! Woo!

Women. Who understands them, eh?

Should I be running away now?

Don't even joke about that.
