Rather than doing a boring poll or another quiz, I thought I'd try my
hand as a bookmaker. So, find out how clever you are! Bet on what's
going to happen on 'Buffy'.
Rules:
Each player starts out with 1000 Sunnydollars. These can then be bet on
any of the wagers offered, by posting a response on alt.buffy.europe.
Each player must be able to cover each bet (if you already have bet all
your money, you'll have to wait until some of your wagers are decided
before you can put money on another bet). Keep track of your own money,
I can't be bothered to. Betting is suspended from Sunday before each new
episode until further notice, and bets can be closed at any time. I
decide the outcome of each bet (which may include cancelling the bet,
giving each players their stakes back, if the outcome is inconclusive).
Odds X:Y means bet Y Sunnydollars, win X if you're right.
On with the bets!

Cool idea. However, someone's going to have to explain to me how odds
work. I've never managed to learn.

A little charm and a lot of style.
I've never bet at a bookie, so I just did what sounded like the right
thing to me:
If the odds are 3:2, for instance, and you bet £2 and win, you get £3.
So you've made a profit of £1. If you lose, you've lost £2. If you bet
£5 and win, you get £5 * 3/2 = £7.50 and so on.
Alternatively, consider that odds 3:2 means I think there's a 2/3 chance
(66.67 %) that this is what's going to happen, and 1/3 that it's the
other option. You should bet on the option you think is underrated (has
a higher probability of coming true than I've assigned to it).

The way I know it, is that 3:2 would mean that (broken down to 1) for
each £1 you stake, you will get £1.5 back (PLUS your stake).
A £2 stake would mean you get £6 *AND* your original £2, making £8
paid back to you by Mr Bookie.

Oh bugger.
Well, I'll be using decimal odds from now on. That makes much more
sense.

I think the writers are just playing with us. The odds aren't good, however,
so I no bet here.

I think YES, but there's the odds thing again, so I'll skip this one as
well..

And again...

They probably aren't, but I'll put 40 on YES for the fun of it.

I don't think so: 100 on NO

Really no idea. I skip again

120 on NO.
Long term investments these last two (I hope).
As a rule I suck at gambling, so if you're smart, just bet the opposite of
what I bet :-)

You cut the spoiler space. It's not there for fun, it's there to prevent
people from reading about event they haven't seen yet!
If you can cancel your posts (yes, the other one two), than please do so
and NEVER EVER delete spoiler space again.

Gunnar,
How about we institute fines for spoilery behaviour?
Just a thought.

Gee, can you tell I hadn't had any coffee when I wrote that?

Heh yeah, good idea. How about a good old public spanking?

"No... no! No way! I wish us into Bizarro Land, and you guys are still

I was leaning towards capital punishment myself, but maybe you're right.

I'm trying to think of a pun on capital punisment -> capital -> money
-> fine, but I can't think of any. Let's just take it as read that I
wrote something witty, OK?
O T, for the crime of posting spoilers without appropriate spoiler
space, the court will seize half the money you have placed on
outstanding bets, a sum of 200 SD. Consider your stake on each bet
halved.
(That should teach him!)
None of those things have happened yet so they aren't spoilers.

You don't understand. The questions give away information about S7.
That's spoilers for people who haven't seen S7, which includes just
about anyone in the UK who don't download the episodes.
We have a spoiler policy which says such information must be kept under
spoiler space, so that these people can read the group without getting
spoiled.
