this is vital if youwant to make certain of a 5th Season of ths great show.
This is absurd - there is no serious danger of "Angel" being cancelled.
John Briggs
That's what you think. Apparently the threat is very real!
Have any of these on-line petitions had any effect on a threatened or
cancelled show?

Online? Don't know. But Roswell was 'saved', more or less, in part
because of the massive tobasco bottle petitioning activities, IIRC.
Mattia
Please explain the nature of this threat.
John Briggs
It's not a huge threat, but 'Angel' doesn't have great numbers, it's a
steady, reliable show with a fan base that isn't expanding, but follows
it wherever it moves. As such, it's not a smash-hit success for the WB;
the numbers are good, but they ain't great, by any measure.
It hasn't been renewed yet, while most/all of the the WBs other 'big'
shows have. Several columnists are unsure of 'Angel's future, but tend
to give it a better than 50/50 chance of being picked up. Angel's
production team is optimistic about next year.
So, well, I don't call this a 'very real' threat. But it's a little
threatening.
Mattia
Yes, but if there really are contract negotiations, it couldn't have been
announced this early anyway. So what is surprising is not that "Angel"
hasn't been announced, but that the others have. There may be nothing at
all to the story, or a little contract manoeuvring at most.
John Briggs
I'm excited by the promise of something completely new next year if it's
renewed. Or was that something that's being said just to get them to renew
it? ;-)
Angel S4, Buffy S7 spoilers and speculation (based on current finale
rumours, but nothing you haven't heard before)...

Joss promised Buffy S7 would be something different and it is... although it
hasn't really been the best season ever. Maybe he has a totally new
direction for Angel... I mean if Buffy defeats the first, or there's a
"Fray"-type situation (I haven't read Fray but I know the general premise)
then Angel *will* need to do something else. I mean, he's pretty sorted at
the moment... no Wolfram & Hart, no Beast and he knows who the Big Bad is.
I'm assuming that'll be sorted within an ep or two and all they have to do
is head on over to Sunnydale and help out with the big finale, right?
Then what's left? Joss could just make the show a slashy paradise - Angel
and Wes gettin' it on, Fred and Willow, Cordy and Buffy (and Faith) all
together... you could have different pairings every week and us fans could
vote online as to... erm... went a bit far there, didn't I? Anyone got any
better ideas (well, of course you don't, but what about any *other* ideas?)?
:-)

Well, shows tend to have multi-year contracts; it's very possible, even
likely, that none of the other shows weren't up for renegotiation.
Mattia
Exactly. So announcing them early does no harm, and puts a bit of pressure
on the negotiations!
John Briggs
??? This is news to me? I hadn't heard anything about the show being
cancelled. Unless the show is doing unusually crappy, it will get
renewed until its seventh season and then be cancelled as that's the
standard life span for a syndicated TV show.
