Buffy fell in love with a Vampire,Willow is in love with a Werewolf.Xander
has a Demon in love with him.If they brought back Robia la Morte as
Jenny,Giles could have a ghost lover, endless plot possibilities.
Anyone else miss Jenny.

I have stopped telling people who never watch Buffy about things you mention
here. The title of the show does sound a bit childish (I mean who the hell
name their child "Buffy"). So if I tell about loving vampire's or
werewolves or demons I only get a little smile and you can see that they
remind themselves never to watch a show as childish as that. It's futile
to try to convince them that the show is not at all like they think it is.
Sigh, it's hard being a Buffy fan.
And yes I did like Jenny, but miss her ? I don't think so.
By the way this is somewhat of a spoiler...................damn !
To everybody who didn't know : She is not dead, or maybe she is, or maybe
not, yes, no, yes, no,..........
There, I took care of it. Nobody is sure now. :-) (Sigh of
relieve).

Why don't you apply your "rule" to English ?
Isn't that annoying ?

King Henry the Eighth, for one.

Queen Elizabeth The First, the greatest monarch in British history was
called "Buffy" as a child. The name being a popular derivation of
Elizabeth in times past. (Though not so much in Britain now).

Of course Joyce named her Buffy though, not Elizabeth, and thus I have
no way to counter that part of your argument.

Out of curiosity; Have you had any Dutch monarchs with peculiar names?

Because it's English language based newsgroup. And I don't really
want to start this discussion again, because it is pointlesss.

The "Rule" makes sense, but the way you ask our non-english speaking friends
could be seen as a bit abbrupt, mabey someone should post the "Rule" in a
couple of different languages (English/French/German/Italian/Russian!) every
two weeks or so, Like a FAQ or something.

Saying it is a English Language Based ng is a bit short sighted, it is a bit
like some one seeing a black sheep and saying all sheep are black!, it is a
predominantly english speaking news group.

There is a FAQ which has been posted here a few times. The biggest problem is
that the FAq is in english and we can't find anyone to do a trustworthy
translation in other languages. The whole french/other language posts are kind
of a touchy issue in this group however and there have been numerous discussions
on it. It doesn't justify but it does explain people replying a bit shortly etc.
because theres just a huge flood of french posts, people are getting anoyed and
more than a bit tired of the whole issue. That's not the fault of the french who
don't know that they're breaking any rules till we tell them (and, btw, thanks
to rob for having the patience to point that out to almost all the new french
posters...you're saving all of us a lot of trouble :-)), but rather it's our
problem. Anyways like I'm said we're all tired of the subject so let's stop this
discussion here....

See Ya,
George

The language thing doesn't bother me that much. I get more
annoyed by the endless flood of message like "I love Buffy, mail
me", without any indication of wanting to contribute something
substantial, on-topic discussion into this newsgroup. That these
kind of messages are mostly in French is perhaps a coincidence.

Like others in this thread also have said. The vast mayority of posters in
this NG do so in English. This is also the case in other NG's and on the
internet itself. So English is standard. I myself am Dutch by the way.
If people like to post something in an other language like Dutch or German
or French it's polite to the other posters to tell them that they are doing
so. It's hardly any trouble to add one more word to your header. People
who can't speak that language can skip that post.
I can speak or read just a few words of French, so I would skip all French
posts. So I also can't read what you wrote to me in reply to my "Please
don't forget....etc" posts.
I realize that I sound a bit like a policeman who thinks he can tell people
what to do. Of course I can't, I am only asking. And I also know that if
a header has a French text the post itself will probably also be French.
This is not the point. Like I said I just hope to remind people that
putting in a warning is the polite thing to do.
Because I don't speak French I can't explain it properly so I just stick to
the short message you have read. That message is as polite as possible
because it's defenately nothing personal.
So please don't get mad, we're all nice people. :-)
