What was the point of Anya's musical flashback last night? I don't think the
song was cut from the original episode. Don't get me wrong I like it but it
but I didn't see any reason for it. Does any one know?
And those of you who have seen the later S7 episodes: Are there any more
musical flashbacks to come?

To succintly, melodically, lyrically and charmingly demonstrate the
underlying reasons for her marrying Xander - her mistaken impression
that, once married, all her problems would be solved; her desire to
seek some kind of definition from her surrounding environment, the
external as opposed to the internal - in addition to which, create
some additional poignancy from the switch from the expected high note
to the low point of her being pinned to a wall by a sword.
Tim.
An extremely effective transition which was apparently cut by Sky :-(

I didn't see it, but I can't believe they did that.
The most effective cut that has ever been seen on Buffy and
they cut it somehow. It beggars belief.

Amen! And brilliantly done. OK, so it's not as good a song as most of
those in OMWF, but it does the job.
It's kind of, "I... will... be........ [CUT] Dead. Oh."

I didn't notice that they cut anything. In fact, I whooped for joy
that for once they actually put the advert break in the correct place!
(i.e. immediately after the stabbing).
Hmmm... [RUNS SIDE-BY-SIDE COMPARISON]
They faded in to the add break a second early, rather than letting us
have the last dramatic musical "stab" and sudden cut to black, which
is a shame. Came back out of the break in the right place...
[Side-note: The song sounds horrible played like this, 'cos the two
tapes are runing at slightly different speeds! The pitches don't match
and they rapidly slip out of synch with each other. Yeuch... =:o\ ]
Song reaches a crescendo and - Oh, sh**...! Coming out of the song,
they cut out the first shot of Anya pinned to the wall, apparently
dead (3 seconds long). They went straight to Zander lying on the
floor, waking up. Idiots!!!!
[SINKS HEAD IN HANDS FOR A WHILE, THEN WANDERS OFF TO FIND BREAKFAST]
