Late in the evening after a days work and a few drinks the really important
thoughts come.

I started thinking. I have 65 eps on tape (yes that's one short, I know).
I have probably seen every ep 4 or 5 times and one episode is about 42
minutes.
That's 65 x 4.5 x 42 = 12285 minutes of Buffy. That's eight and a halve
days.

So little more than a week of Buffy. That doesn't seem that much.
Is everybody still awake ? I won't be in half an hour. (That's 0.714
Buffy ep).

Bye, Rob
(Who's thinking that this post cost him probably 0.119 Buffy ep of his
valuable time).

Oh, trust me on this one, you are. Then again, aren't we all, to some
degree?

Wow..I don't have nearly that many, since I've only had a VCR for a
short time...

> I have probably seen every ep 4 or 5 times and one episode is about 42 minutes.

And then you have the other 12 (that one plus the rest of S4) that have
been completed, but you just haven't seen them. Another bunch of
hours..(504 minutes to be exact.)

> That's 65 x 4.5 x 42 = 12285 minutes of Buffy. That's eight and a half

Well, if you watched all the Buffy that's been aired somewhere (S1-S4)
that gives you roughly 78x42=3276 54h36m (about 2 hours and a bit more
if you're watching in NTSC ;-)) and then some 15 and a half odd hours of
Angel to top it off. Its one way to spend a long weekend...

> So little more than a week of Buffy. That doesn't seem that much.

Yeah, right. Keep in mind that a week of buffy means you could spend
almost 2 weeks watching Buffy every waking hour (you gotta sleep
sometimes. You can eat in front of the TV, of course.) And you forget
Angel, also imminently watchable (I've seen most eps at least twice, if
not more often..)

OK...a little obsessive here..

I reiterate: obsessive. I congratulate you on your obsessiveness!

I did have a S1(about six eps) plus S2 plus S3 marathon, this year. With an
average of five eps a day that took me... eeuuh.... ten days (although I had
some three Buffy free days in between, so it really took me about two
weeks). It will take a while before I will try something like that again
because it's definitely not a healthy influance on your social life.
Believe me or not there are other nice things besides Buffy.

The fact that I have seen all eps so many times also... (damn, I have just
crushed a tiny fly or something, that had landed on the "o". There's a
barely visible bloodstain on it. But that's not really relevent here)
....explains why I rarely react to posts about older eps. What's left to
talk about ?

Can't wait untill S4 continues.

well, dunno if i would be able to take the marathon, must feel weird, but
not a lesser fan for all that!
s4 won't be aired in my country before next month on "ordinary "channels,
only on cable tv, so can't wait either, also i've seen a few episodes
through helpful friends

I'm seriously planning on having my next marathon after S5 will have ended.
S5 will be the last season of Buffy, I think (don't ask me why). I hope I
will have been able to tape the only ep I'm missing ("Angel", S1) as well.
So the plan is to watch all 100 eps in one month. But it will take some
time before this will happen because (as you probably know) we're only at ep
10 in S4 in the Netherlands.
But maybe I will be sick of the series by than so it will never happen.
Who knowes.

Bye, The Marathon man (a.k.a. Rob)

Why?

Didn't SMG sign for another two years (S5 & 6)? Season 5 will have to suck
big time and scare off all of the fans for the show not to be continued.

Didn't I tell you not to ask me that question.

Two more years ? I didn't know that. Well, I thought S3 would be the
last one, than I thought the same of S4. And now I think after S5 it will
be curtain time. I will probably keep thinking the next season will be the
last one untill finally after a couple of dozen seasons I will be right.
Let's just wait and see.

Well, if you keep your expectations (as to more season, that is) low,
its harder to be dissapointed, I guess. Then again, it could get you a
little depressed. OTOH, Buffy could do the 'Doctor Who' thing, you never
know...(let me say at this point that I don't think it should, but hey,
thats just me...)

Docter Who thing ? I never watched Doctor Who.
About me expecting the next season to be the last, I don't know why I do
that. Maybe without realising it, it's about me being Dutch. You know,
cheap. Huh ?, you say. Well, as I said before I tape and keep every
ep. I expect that not too long after the series will have ended, I will
get bored with it and I will never look at the tapes again. Imagine the
huge pile of tapes I will have no more use for, if the series would stop
after season ten or something. (By than I will own a recordable DVD or
something, I'm sure).
Is that the real reason ? No, but I thought it would be fun to confirm a
stereotype.

I can't wait untill there's finally another new ep to talk about. Why ?
Just read a post like the one above and you'll know why.

Neither did I, really. It went on for about 30 years/seasons or so. Some
ridiculous number like that, anyway.

Huh? You've never realized you were dutch before? What did you think you
were?

I get that scare once in a while. Like: "Will Buffy still rock in 20
years?" Then I look at all the people who still enjoy ST TOS, for
example, and myself, who still watches and rewatches Star Wars some 10
years since I first saw it, and re-read the Lord of the Rings every once
in a while, and feel all better. Its gonna be one nostalgic little trip
though.....

Ah...

Well, I'm getting antsy to disuss some new stuff. We've discussed most
of the eps that are on at the moment already, so there isn't that much
fun to be had there. I expect that if for some reason the show repeats
in 10 year's time, I'll not have seen the eps in a while (well, the fact
that I'll probably own the DVDs may kind of screw that theory up..) so I
would probably enjoy discussing them again more than I do atm.

A citizen of the world. Part of one big, happy family. Where everybody
likes each other and people smile all the time. A place where the sun
always shines. Where the lam lies down next to the lion and
....eeeeuuuuhh......the vampire next to the slayer. And where a wherewolf
can live among us people. A world where you can practice dark rituals and
nobody calls MOO. And also........

(From the back of the room somebody cries :"Yeah, yeah, we get it. Get on
with it").

Hmmm, okay I'll shut up now. (Where are those new eps to discuss ??? Still
so many Buffyless weeks to go).

Bye, Rob
