I have just watched Choices. For all dutch : Instead of earshot
(grrrrrr#*###!!!!!!****). Did anyone receive an answer of Net 5 yet ?
I didn't. I hope they show it at a later date.

Anyway, just a few first impressions.
After watching it one time I can't help but feeling that it wasn't a great
episode. I liked it ok, but I thought there were too many unrealistic
scenes.
Buffy pressed that vampiredriver for information. In my mind it's not very
likely that a simple driver would know that many details about the box.
After their little talk she knew that it was important for the ascension and
where it would be stored. (And maybe more, I can't remember). Why would
the mayor tell that nobody anything ?

And why would the mayor keep that important box in the middle of a room on a
table, underneath a skylight, that opens easily and has no alarm ??? And
it's obviously not too difficult to get on the roof.
I know it was protected by some magic shield and an alarm, but what's wrong
with a sealed basement with only one (locked) door, a safe, a camera, an
alarm, two guards, AND a magic shield ?

People talked too much aswel. Faith took her time listening to Willow.
And why would the mayor give that speech to Angel and Buffy during the
exchange. I mean, ofcourse it could happen like that but it just didn't do
it for me.

Why didn't Willow just take one or two books of ascension and make a run for
it ? Instead she took her time just reading some parts of it. Again not
impossible but..............you know.

But I don't want to be too negative. I really liked the floating pencil
thing. When Willow opened that drawer I noticed the pencils and I remember
thinking : "Okay she can float pencils, that's no help in this situation".
I was dead wrong and liked it.
Also some great fights by Buffy and Angel. Nice scene when Wesley got
ignored (again) by the gang, while planning the break-in. I'm almost
starting to feel sorry for the guy, afteral he is only trying to do his job.

It was also a great mayor episode. At first I had my doubts about him
being the main bad guy. But now every time I see him I am liking him more.
Also I am loving Faith being bad, these last few eps. At last she has a
more important role in the series.
(I just realized that I have a thing about main characters being evil. I
like Willow and Angel and Faith better when they were/are bad).

It is unmistakable that we are getting near the end of the series. This ep
again was very important for the storyline.

That's it for now. Comments ?

I deleted alt.tv.buffy-v-slayer from the list of news groups,
they have spoiler rules different from alt.buffy.europe.

That speech by the mayor was the only good thing about this
episode. Though I felt, it wasn't really the mayor talking to
Angel and Buffy, it was the writers talking to the fans about
the dead end of what has been the major storyline for three
seasons.

I too like him more than I did in the beginning, but I'm not over
the moon with him. I guess you get used to all sorts of things,
there's just a lack of bad guy competition.

It feels like the writers are in a hurry. Not happy with things,
wanting to get it over with. Go on a holiday. Somehow, the show
has lost some of its magic.

As far as punishments go this is fairly abstract.

because otherwise, the show would have ended in 5 minutes...or the mayor
would have been successful, hence the end of Buffy....

Trinity, could you please put whatever you have to say *below* the spoiler
space, and could you please, PUHLEASE, not quote an entire message, just the
part you're replying to? Please?

Andrea
(who is actually planning to unsub from buf...@onelist.com because of the
endless quoting of quotes)
