First of all, disturbing fact: I was getting all mushy from watching Angel
with Connor ("Look at me, I'm Mr. Dad") and I was going 'awwww' when seeing
Connor. I blame the fever.
But I'm getting almost satanic pleasure out of watching Angel getting more
and more attached to Connor because it will mean major drama when the baby
leaves/dies/whatever. He *is* leaving isn't he? Please tell me he is
leaving.
Holtz was actually bearable, the fact that the stupid hat wasn't there
must've helped. Ok ok only kidding. To tell you the truth, I can't really
put my finger on why I don't like him as a character. Perhaps it's because I
feel absolutely nothing. I don't see him feeling anything and I don't know
him. As it should be in good horror, you need to *feel* for the bad guy in
other for him to be really good and scary. Oh yeah sure, we've had the
flashbacks and terrible things have happened to him so I can guess what goes
on inside him, but I want to *see* it. I want something that I can like
about him or truly hate about him, but this man is as cold as the rock he
came from. And that just doesn't do anything for me. Take Angelus and Spike
in Buffy S2, so much more powerful and scary and pure evil, that works much
better for me. I think it's something like that...
Anyway... he's methodically building himself a little army but he's not
being very smart in his choices. Not sure if they'll be that much use to him
but they might be good enough to watch his back for a little while. That
stupid girl Justine is just a liability if you ask me. She only wants to
kill kill kill without thinking. OTOH, it helps that she's human so Angel
wouldn't be able kill her right away. But fortunately we have Gunn for that.
It was good to see Lilah again. She's completely crazy but I think I like
her. She's fed up with the W&H policies and just wants to kill Angel, as
Sahjan does (and I too wonder why). Think I have more 'faith' in those two
succeeding than in Holtz. Not to mention the fact that they are waaaay more
interesting than Holtz.
Most disturbing was of course the team. What team? Been together for so long
and still there is no trust, no sense of belonging or probably even loyalty.
Wesley *still* doesn't trust Angel... it's very very sad and it's tearing
him apart. And me too. What is that? Why can't he tell Angel about the
prophecy (if it really is a prophecy, perhaps it's W&H again playing with
us, with them)? Still the fear of Angelus returning? I'm very sad about
this, if there was one friendship in that team I had faith in, it was that
one :(
Fred and Gunn. Yeah cute, not much to see, moving along. Yes there's the
loyalty issue again, at least with Gunn. I'm pretty sure Fred will want to
stay with Angel.
Cordy. No Cordy. Still off somewhere with the arms. Lucky her...
There was more I wanted to say... hmmm, well, maybe later.

Good LORD! You?? YOU were doing this? That's almost like Sue doing it!
/me faints...

Ah. OK. I feel all better now. And tbh, I'm not entirely convinced he is
leaving. It would be a very, very mean thing to do. But then again, it
might rock Angel out of the semi-complacency he's been in. Dark place,
either way, which, well, could be very good.

Sas? You're going to have to document this 'stupid hat' obsession.

BUt...but....he's not a villain! Not really. That's kind of the whole
point. If you keep looking for a bad guy you love to hate, you won't
find him, because he's not there. His stamina, his drive, his obsession
/should/ freak you out a little (as should his most splendiferous voice)
but beyond that, he's a man, not necessarily evil, completely obsessed,
and ultimately, redeemable.

How so?
> Not sure if they'll be that much use to him

He's after one single vampire with a small entourage. He only wants to
stake Angel. The rest isn't relevant.

:-o
Holtz has exactly the same issues. Just that he's got more of a penchant
for torture.
> It was good to see Lilah again. She's completely crazy but I think I like

Nah, crazy? Lilah rocks!

Well, Lilah's actually got a lot more backstory, and she's a lot
funnier. Sahjan is an enigma, precisely because we know diddly about
him...as for success...W&H doesn't have a splendid track record where
'success' is concerned vis a vis Angel. Besides last season, but they
paid a hefty price for that one.
> Most disturbing was of course the team. What team? Been together for so long

Huh?

Ah, but I think it's a double edged sword. He desperately wants to trust
Angel, but knows that he can turn on the edge of a blade (and, uh,
perhaps baby = perfect happiness moment? Could happen..), turn to the
bad side. But equally, I think it's a sense of Loyalty that stays his,
uh, tounge. He sees Angel happy. He doesn't want to destroy that. To me,
this says an awful lot about Wes.
> Fred and Gunn. Yeah cute, not much to see, moving along. Yes there's the

She's over Angel, though. She's got Gunnage.
> Cordy. No Cordy. Still off somewhere with the arms. Lucky her...
Heh...

We await.
