2/1/00 ~If you would rather not be aware of a rather startling character
development in regards to WB's BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER, read no further!
According to BUFFY creator Joss Whedon (via the show's website, the recently
heartbroken Willow Rosenberg (Alyson Hannigan) is set to begin a new
relationship with witch-in-training Tara! Said Whedon, "Willow and Tara's
relationship is definitely romantic. Thorny subject; the writers and I have
had long topics about how to deal with the subject responsibly, without
writing a story that sounds like people spent a long time discussing how to
deal with it responsibly. To me it feels just right. ALL the relationships
on the show are sort of romantic and this feels like the natural next step
for her. I can only promise you two things for sure: We're not going to do
an ALLY or PARTY OF 5 in which we promote the hell out of a same sex
relationship for exploitation value that we take back by the end of the
episode, and we will never have a very special Buffy where someone gets on a
soapbox and... oh, I nodded off for a moment there. I just know there's a
sweet story there, that would become very complicated if Oz (Seth Green)
were to show up again. Which he will."
BTW did I mention that FAITH WILL RETURN IN S4(!)
It was part of the Willow-article but I forgot to cut/paste it:
Whedon also revealed that fans of the show can expect the return of
slayer-gone-bad Faith (Eliza Dushku). Said Joss, "I'm shooting an episode
with the irrepressible Eliza now and it's great fun. She's gonna shake
things up."

A little late for that you moron! The subject line says it all.
Never, NEVER, ever again, post spoilers in the subject line!
Spoilers should be in the message body only, with ample warning
and spoiler space.

You think stupidity is funny? Don't bother answering that. I
won't read it. I've put you in my kill file, don't want to risk
reading any more of your spoilers.

Two things. One, I agree with you about the spoiler rules here. I've been
both follower and flaunter of such spoiler rules myself, but I do try to

The little Willow and Tara storyline is a red herring. It's not gonna
happen. Joss had said he and the writers are considering, but the tone of
his post at the recent Buffy Board conversion shows he's not seriously
considering it. It may happen, but my money says it won't.

This isn't very helpful. A spoiler about what? What season,
what episode? I need to know this, so I can decide if this is a
spoiler to me, without first reading below the spoiler space.

Really, WeirdArchives, must you run to other NewsGroups and try to
mislead people into believing your panic-stricken denials?
After being so roundly proved wrong in the alt.buffy NewsGroup, did you
think you would have a captive audience to preach to hear? Perhaps you
thought the European NG would be a little 'backward'?
For the record, there is absolutely *NO* evidence to suggest that the
storyline will not happen. You are merely inferring what you are so
desperate to believe from Mr. Whedon's wilfully oblique postings.
From what I have read of Mr. Whedon's postings it is very clear that the
W/T storyline will progress as outlined in numerous mainstream media.
You are welcome to cling for dear life to your desire to never see
anything of this kind occur on BtVS. Your reasoning for not wishing to
see a Lesbian relationship explored on the programme is your own.
But please do not post your rumour and innuendo as hard fact.
You are only running the risk of appearing quite foolish in a few weeks
or months time. Mr. Whedon has allowed things to go too far in the
publicity stakes for this story to not happen now.
Thank You.

Proud Supporter of Willow's right to be a 'Monkey Owner'.
Sorry. Fourth Season. My fault entirely.
I'm not spreading rumors. I'm just stating my opinion that this may be a
hoax. I mean, when was the last time Joss was THIS open about a particular
storyline? The guy has the actors to swear never to tell what happens to
their characters or leak any major league storylines like the arc about the
Mayor and Ascension. It's my figuring that he's trying to confuse those
people who delight in spoiling major plot twists and giving everyone a
headache over revealing major happenings before the event. Personally, I
have no objection to having one or more characters come out of the closet.
It's just this crap about Willow being a lesbian has been going on since
Season Three and with the recent events from Season Four (which I won't go
into since some of you already know about it and I'm not give away anything
to those of you who haven't found out yet), the rumors are just getting WAY
out of hand. I have said I might be wrong and if I am, I'm willing to eat
crow with a side order of humble pie. I haven't said it's a fact. I've said
it's humbug. A hoax. A red herring to conceal something that might be some
importance. If this bugs ya, I apologize. But do not treat me like a child.
I do not expect you to believe me. I'm just stating my opinion. Okay?
And thanks for at least not complaining about my not using a SPOILER
ALERT....even if the info could be wrong.
