buffy and Angels split up and why is he trying to kill her. Can you explain

Hi,
the episodes where these changes in the relationship of buffy and angel happen
are surprise and innocence.
In surprise buffy sleeps with angel. Because of that angel reaches a moment of
true happiness and he looses his soul (a part of the curse that gave him his
soul in the first place stated that he would loose it again if he ever reached
a moment of true happiness). After he looses his soul the angel you knew from
the previous episodes doesnt exsist anymore and he is reverted to his former
evil self. His obsession with buffy remains however and he tries to drive her
insane, like he did drusilla, by killing buffy's friends......
Hope that explains it. Oh and when you want to discuss a specific episode

header so you don't spoil any plot parts for people who havent seen these eps
yet.
