NEW BETS
-=-=-=-=-=-=-
10. By resurrecting Buffy in 'Bargaining' (6x01), the Scoobies created
the opportunity for The First Evil to destroy the Slayer line forever.
YES 1.3
NO 4.0
11. There will be more "filler" (non-arc) episodes this season. [*]
YES 2.0
NO 2.0
[*]: For the purposes of this bet, I will have the final say on whether
an episode is filler or not. As a general guide, I would class 5
episodes so far this season as filler/non-arc. Namely 'Lessons' (7x01),
'Same Time, Same Place' (7x03), 'Help' (7x04), 'Selfless' (7x05) and
'Him' (7x06).
-=-=-=-=-=-=-
OK, this wasn't a massive success last time, but a few people seemed to
enjoy it. I do encourage people to join in: part of the point is to see
how many people believe the different theories and speculations that
abound on the UK Buffy groups, and how strongly they believe them
(measured in how much they're willing to bet).
You're encouraged to explain your bet, but please stay away from things
that may be spoilers to those up-to-date on US-transmitted episodes
(e.g. upcoming episode titles, cast info and info from shooting
scripts). Don't even hint at such knowledge, because that may be a
metaspoiler itself.
RULES:
Each player starts out with 1000 Sunnydollars (SD). These can then be
bet on any of the wagers offered, by posting a response on either
alt.buffy.europe or uk.media.tv.buffy-v-slayer. Each player must be able
to cover each bet (if you already have bet all your money, you'll have
to wait until some of your wagers are decided before you can put money
on another bet). Keep track of your own money, I can't be bothered to.
Betting is suspended from Sunday before each new episode until further
notice, and bets can be closed at any time. I decide the outcome of each
bet (which may include cancelling the bet, giving each players their
stakes back, if the outcome is inconclusive). Odds are given in decimal
fashion; e.g. 5.3 means that if you bet 10 SD, you'll get 53 SD
(including your stake back) if you win.

Yes. I reckon it will boil down to being Willows fault. And that she's the
only one with the power to stop it, which i swhy she was targeted as the
first Suicide victim.

Taking what you've igven as examples, then no. We'll probably see a fair
few episodes of Giles venturing off to round up new slayers, until Faith
returns that is.

Yep, but probably will only be acknowledged through Faith. Her

in jail, breaks out and goes to Angel for help. Angel being bad and all(So
I hear, I've not watched Angel since S2, she then goes to seek Buffy)

Excellent. If you want to bet, though, you should probably indicate how
much money you wish to place on each of those guesses. You have 1000 SD,
but don't spend it all at once!
just watching it....then I'll be right with you....

Wanted to do this last time, but didn't get around to it. So I guess
now's as good a time as any ;-)
I might as well start with the old bets.

>>1. Giles is dead.
>>YES 3.0

I'll go with a 'NO' on this one. Because of the lousy odds, I'll bet 20 SD
>>2. Dawn's vision of Joyce was The First Evil.
>>YES 1.5
>>NO 3.0
Ah, better. I'll again go with 'NO' on this one, for 50 SD.
>>3. Buffy's visions of Joyce are The First Evil.
>>YES 3.0
>>NO 1.5
I'd have to say 'No' as well, but I'm not placing any bets.
>>4. The apocalypses on 'Buffy' and 'Angel' are related.
>>YES 4.0
>>NO 1.3
Don't think so, although I do think it's kinda lame that we're having
apacolypses on both shows. Like the one in Buffy better though, btw.
>>5. Principal Wood is under the influence of The First Evil.
>>YES 1.5
>>NO 3.0
I think 'NO'. I think he's got something to do with it, possibly knows
the first evil or was under its control at some point, but I don't think
he is now. I'm not too sure about this one though, so I'll wait to bet
on this.
>>6. Principal Wood represents some organisation/power with their own

Here I think it's 'YES'. But I'm still not sure enoguh and the odds suck
ass ;-)

I'm thinking 'NO'. I'll place 20 SD on that bet.

Oh, I'm thinking a wholehearted 'No' here, and it'd suck if they did.
I'm placing 100 SD on this one.
>>9. Principal Wood is on a mission that will turn out to be about Dawn.
>>YES 4.0

Heh. I think 'NO'. But, look at those odds. So, nah, not going in for
this one ;-)

Well, apareantly. I'm most definately thinking 'YES'. So I guess I might
ass well place at least some money on this lousy bet ;-). 30 SD it is.

Hmmm. It's a close one, but I'm hoping on a 'No' and I'm thinking Joss
and co. will want to go out with the most major-ass storyline they've
ever done. So I'm going with 'NO' and placing 50 SD.

YES, yes, it's true, *sob* - Bet 50 SD
I hope it's not true, but I fear it is. (Personally speaking, that is.
Dramatically it could work either way, and is probably better if he's
dead.)
>>2. Dawn's vision of Joyce was The First Evil.
>>YES 1.5
>>NO 3.0

NO, I mean, she was all glowy and everything. <g> - Bet 50 SD
The message to Dawn about Buffy not choosing her will not have the
negative interpretation which Dawn currently assumes.
>>3. Buffy's visions of Joyce are The First Evil.
>>YES 3.0

NO - Bet 30 SD
She seemed supportive, and the stuff about the First being eternal is
the same stuff the Oracle spouted this week so it's presumably true

NO - Bet 100 SD
It's been established that the only thing which can affect more than
one TV network at once is the mysterious cosmic power known as
"Sweeps".

I prefer more complexity, and there's room for a different
explanation. Plus he's cool.

YES - Bet 50 SD
Maybe Watchers, maybe something fighting the First, I dunno.

NO - Bet 30 SD
I mean, seriously, what dramatic impact would it have?

NO - Bet 100 SD
Since when has anyone on Buffy ever split up and got back together?
Except Willow and Tara, obviously. And Buffy and Angel. And Buffy
and Spike. Oh, I give up.

Erm yes... no... yes... no..... oh what the hell, YES - Bet 10 SD :-)

It won't be as straightforward as it appears, but basically yes.

'Lessons' wasn't arc? I suppose it's an arguable case! In which
case, given your twitchy "filler/non arc" trigger finger, I'll have to
vote YES - Bet 50 SD
Total bets - 570 SD

"Do not thump the book of G'Quon. It is disrespectful."
In my opinion, 'Lessons' was not arc. It was an episode about Dawn
starting school and Buffy fighting spirits conjured by a talisman. (If
it's later revealed who put the talisman there, and it's got something
to do with the main arc, I might change my mind.)
The only overtly arc-y stuff is the Istanbul teaser and The First
appearing at the end, but these don't really tie in with the episode at
all. They're more a case of the arc being subtly advanced in a filler ep
(like Angel's appearances in 'Phases', 'Killed by Death' and 'Go Fish'),
or a teaser for future episodes (like Joyce in 'I Was Made to Love
You').
I'm unsure about 'Beneath You', too, since it has a very non-arc main
plot. But there's enough arc stuff in there ("It Eats You Starting With
The Bottom" usw.) that I'll allow it.

YES, 50 SD
I'm pretty much positive this is the case. Don't want to tie up too much
money on those odds, though.

YES, 150 SD
In 11 episodes, 5 have been non-arc. Surely there must be at least one
in the next 11?! Hmmm... maybe these odds are wrong....
Cash left: 400 SD
