Hi everybody! The month of August drew to a close just under half
an hour ago here in the Central European time zone, the official
time zone of this newsgroup, so it's time for the fourth edition
of the Official alt.buffy.europe Top 20 Poster Chart! Here's the
what...

The two markedly absent old school members re-enter in
respectable top-10 positions, the ChartMeister[tm] himself climb
up into second place after returning from vacation at the
beginning of the month, but it is not enough to stop the one and
only ReplyMeister[tm] to regain his much loved leading position
with a lead of almost 100 posts...

Yay! Its time to see if I can still enter that ol' Top20 list after my
away month......

Ouh..that's probably me and (scrolls down) Andrea! About time she got
back in a top10 position as well. <yells over to Andrea> You got in!
Now just climb some more with the upcomming Buffy discussions.....

Congratalations! It *is* however time that one of our convertees
stepped up and got first place. That's probably not gonna happen though

Yep. He's gotten the top spot again. Sheesh....;-)

Well, this is really sort of the top5 as expected. Wasn't too sure
about the placement up front, but its really pretty much the five top
posters.....

I believe our first non-european member enters the chart here...
Also, XanderX has returned. The groups other creator grabs a
respectable 12th place. I'd say, start aiming for that top10 position
next month!!

Miriam Rocke. From the US, IIRC. Doesn't like the US NGs though, or
something like that...

Actually, haven't seen/heard him in a longish time. Is he on vacation or
something? Or am I exhibiting some sort of selective memory?

Yep, pretty much.

I've never really been on any US NG; I'm just weird that way. The
only groups I've been on have been UK (umtb) and European (abe).

OTOH, my ancestors come from Europe, doesn't that count? ;)

Phew. I recalled (or remembered, whatever) correctly..

That is a little odd. I've sniffed around some high volume US groups,
but the off-topic discussion and flamewars are very, very present,
they're really busy, and the kind of severe right-wing,
america-is-the-very-best-country-ever-and-has-the-right-to-rule-the-world-and-Jesus-is-our-King
kind of junk...yeah, I have had some violent reactions to some of those
posts, refrained from getting drawn in, and just left instead. Not all
US groups are like that, but I've lurked in several that were it was
like that. Not saying the US Buffy and/or Angel groups are like that, I
honestly have not clue, I'm not that big of a spoiler slut...OK, that
went on a little too long. Sorry about that :o)

Heh-- that pretty much summarizes it. Plus, I haven't found any
(US) groups where I like the people, and where the intelligent
discussions outweigh the drivel. I *am* on a (private) mailing list
that discusses Buffy among other things, but for the most part, I like
it here more than the US groups.

Sadly, I don't speak Dutch. I can occasionally pick out meanings of
words, based on parallels to German and/or English; *reading* Dutch is
kind of possible; writing, OTOH, is kind of impossible. About the
only foreign language I can write fluently without help is Pig Latin.

Stop that! You're scaring me! Really! OK, you have to read this minor
spoilery thingy (practically no content) about the rest of Angel and
Buffy to keep you going..

Buffy: Next 3 eps, 'A New Man' seems to be pretty much OK, not great.
Gilesy ep. Next 2, however (I in team, Goodbye Iowa) are, unfortunately,
a Boreley Fest, by all accounts. Bad, so I've heard. However, from then
on, we get another Roll[tm] type thing going, up to a great season
finale (very different from the usual though, it seems.)

Angel is supposed to get better in the last stretch, but I don't know
any real details there..
