Wonder how long I can keep up this separate, no-spoiler-y review
thing. <g> It tends to get kind of...well, vague...

This ep was good. Not stunning, and it was rather a ripoff of a Star
Trek episode, but it was good for character development. And decently
amusing. (Of course, it *is* Jane Espenson -- Earshot, Band Candy, A
New Man -- so that's hardly surprising. I like JE's writing.)

And Willow's hair is, not surprisingly, still short.

Well, the non-spoiler one is nice and short and concise. It's all very
much appreciated though! That's not too terrible, is it?

Rip off of a Star Trek episode, huh? Interesting....Character
development is good, and te other JE eps are among my favorites (well,
Earshot and Band Candy, anyway..)

Still no hair spells? Damn...

Looks like Season 5 is off to a pretty good start, judging by the last 3
posts. No real stunners yet, I guess, but the season is young..

As opposed to the spoiler one, which is long and rambly. I know. <g>

Well, not that I can tell you about in a non-spoiler-y review

I Have Heard Things about when the first real Wham episode is going to
be. Not that the other episodes don't further the general arc, but the
general arc was not the Point of the ep, at least as far as we can
tell with only a few eps under our belt. Hmm. I'm confusing myself.
Rephrase: I Have Heard Things about when Certain Things are going to
be Explained. Which, hopefully, will be Stunner-y eps. Or something.

Rambling is good! Ok, so I have a bit of a biased view on that, seeing
as I tend to ramble quite a bit myself (one of the main reasons I don't
start threads..)

Well, there's only so unspoilery I can get and still say something at
all. <G>

"There was an episode last night. Um. Buffy was in it. No wait,
cross that out -- that's a spoiler, after all, that Buffy hasn't died
yet. Um. There was a vampire in it. And a bit of humor. No, wait,
that's a spoiler too, and now people will expect an amusing line.
Hmm." And my post to the group will consist of "There was an episode

Nope.

(1) I never said it was a *new* episode.
(1b) For that matter, I never said it was an episode of Buffy.
(2) They could, conceivably, kill off Buffy and still have episodes of
BtVS. They've done it before, after all. (Okay, so they brought her
back -- so what? <g>)
(3) She could, conceivably, have been turned by a vampire, but
retained her soul (either through spell or because Slayers are Special
that way) and be fighting other vampires...in which case she's not
really alive.

And I'm wondering how spoilery these reviews actually are (for me
*personally* mind you!). When I see you write "Well this ep sucked big time,
but I'm not gonna say why" (can you tell I'm exaggerating?) I will be
expecting this ep to suck when I see it. It's like denial: even when S5 is
worse than S4, I don't want to know until I find out myself. I've learned
this lesson by being spoiled rotten for S4. They burned S4 down to the
ground in a.t.b-v-s. And now I'm watching it partially to see if it is
really as bad as they say. I'm easily influenced. Luckily, some eps surprise
me in a positive way.

But don't get me wrong, I admire and appreciate the effort you put into it.
I just want to be spoilerfree, that's all.

Gingerbread, The Harsh Light Of Day, Pangs, Doomed... let's say I like most
of her writing, love some of it, and dislike one or two eps.

> And Willow's hair is, not surprisingly, still short.

I'm keeping track. The Alyson Hannigan Corner is providing me with up to
date Aly screenshots ;o) I loved the red sweater she was wearing! It
accentuated her body nicely.

And no, I don't consider Aly screenshots to be spoilers. I consider them to
be a necessity of life.

Spoiler space please! If there was an episode last night, and that episode

wasn't a repeat, that would mean that Buffy is still alive wouldn't it? Now
you've spoiled all the fans who expected S5 to be nothing more than a two-
parter!

Unless you're saying that Buffy *did* die, and that the show is all about a
beautiful red-headed wicca girl from now on. That would be a spoiler as
well. But in that case I really don't care!

[Clarification: What I meant here is that they'd done the killing of
Buffy before, way back in S1, not that they've done episodes with a

Yep. I think her given name's Elizabeth, and (according to her) she

and switching back to Buffy felt a lot more natural, so she decided
that she'd stick with Buffy.

Well, yes, but there's rather a dearth of Netherlandian

No. I'd suspect that you were a fanfic-writer who already had imagined
herself to be on the BtVS writing-team in 2001. Not that I wouldn't support
such a campain mind you. I'd love to have one of the writing-team post in

Well, we could make it fun by going in there and insulting Jar Jar and
all his little friends..Oh, I just had a thought: maybe that's where TMS
went! On second thought, maybe I'll stay here.....

My vote: Yes. Especially relevant when I have yet to start watching the
show (I'm waiting for some early season B5 repeats..don't want to start
by watching the last few eps..)

Hey!

Well, ok, fair enough, considering some of the things you see here. Then
again, you do see our slightly more cerebrally developed sides from time
to time (albeit not very often..)

True. In fact, them stoopid frenchies have renamed him Alex. Say
'Xander' and they look confused.

Well, actually, you *do* have Jonathan Black from that side of the

that..

Well, the fact that I only had 4 hours of sleep was the idiocy..and the
fact that the damn 10:00 flight was booked solid..the rest is indeed
normal.

No, you really really don't. But B5 is a Very Good Show. Better, in
many ways, than Buffy. <g>

<g> Which doesn't change the fact that, really, the only Europeans we
see on the show are British. (Or Irish.)

Ooh, careful where you go there...that could be considered flamebait in
this sort of group (of course, the fact that a large majority of this
group seems to watch B5 makes it a little safer..)

As I understand it, B5 redefines the 'Story Arc' concept, which is a
good thing, I guess. I've seen a few isolated eps, but they didn't make
too much sense and weren't particularly exciting. I'm very willing to
give it a chance though.

Beats me. This is usenet, you know. Text based communication and all
that (someday they'll even invent things where you can actually do this
live, maybe even with moving pictures...oh, wait, that's IRC and Video
Conferencing....never mind...)

Anyway, I've never seen a pubic wig in my life.

It's not flamebait in the troll sense; I'm not trying to get a
reaction, just stating my opinion. Buffy is not a bad show, but the
story arc is disjointed and self-contradictory, and there are several
episodes I don't like at all, and many that are just so-so. Whereas
with B5...well, never mind. Those who watch it, know what I'm talking
about; those who don't, wouldn't anyway. <g>

Good point; I forgot about them. Hm. But there still aren't any

Fair enough..although I have a very short list of bad eps, and a not so
long list of so-so eps (although S4 has been, well, S4..) Story Arc
isn't always as central as I'd like it to be, I agree there..

;-)

As I understand it, it's a bit of an apples and oranges situation
though..Buffy and Angel remain on the top of my favorite shows shortlist
though.

There was the reference to this Dutch boy who stuck his finger in a duck...
err dyke.

And Xander's reference to an elderly Dutch women's chat room.
I won't include the quote, that would be predictable.
