Um, no.

Please don't kill Faith - I'll look after her and keep her out of your way,
and, err, I really should stop now *g*
That would be quite a plan. Faith wouldn't do it and Buffy wouldn't do it,
so you're shit out of luck.
Or particularly original. This sort of discussions tends to pop up right
after WML has been on ;-)
On a more serious note: PLEASE STOP CROSSPOSTING TO ALL THESE GROUPS
(and specifically alt.buffy.europe, in my case. I don't know what your
'home' group is, so I'm not restricting the list.)

I got a better idea, how about we kill(file) you in a dire attempt to keep
the cross posting to an absolute minimum.

We all make mistakes but few admit it.
One of the things people hate most in the newsgroup world is when people
crosspost (post to multiple Newsgroups at once), but as you are new you were
not know this - I didn't when I was new :)
The trouble is most people tend to shoot first and ask questions later - and
they are usually not very diplomatic either :(
Have fun in Usenet!
If you *are* new to Usenet, Aslam, don't you think it makes sense to
listen to the good advice of those more experienced in using it than
yourself?
One piece of friendly advice from me: drop the h4x0r-5p34k. This isn't
IRC or similar, where you're typing on the run - this is Usenet, where
you can compose offline. As such, not typing in Real English - barring
only TLAs [1], ETLAs [2], etc - tends to be frowned upon in most vaguely
intellectual groups, and in such groups replacing letters with numbers
or using phonetics is considered the Mark of the Luser.

And still fewer avoid getting flamed for it. <grin>

The reason for this being that it often leads to intergroup flamewars
and/or garbage spilling over from one group into a host of others. It's
also sometimes an indication of Usenet Performance Art in progress.
Lastly, in groups like ours, it could also lead to unmarked spoilers for
the European, Aussie and UKian groups if the US groups get careless.
[1] Three Letter Acronym [3]
[2] Extended Three Letter Acronym [4]
[3] These are a common Usenet joke. TLA *is* a TLA; ETLA refers to a
4-letter acronym and is one itself because it's been given an extra word
rather than simply being called a Four Letter Acronym, etc. etc. [5]
[4] And it goes on and on, through FETLA, SFETLA - I even heard
EBASORTLA once. [6]
[5] OK, it's not exactly a gutbuster - but that's what you get when you
let the computer nerds get in first and make all the jokes. <grin>

No.. The problem is that newbies rarely ever stop to learn about the media
they are using before using it.
Jason.
Might I add the requirement of taste to all (relatively) on-topic jokes -
makes the direction threads like this tend to go in a little rarer.

Well, if Jerry Springer isn't educational TV, why does it make me feel so

Note the emphasis on the word "people" - afterall we are only humans, it's
in our nature to do this.

This is true. This NG has seen it's fair share of this (and I must say the
threads were rather interesting yet futile in their purpose).
huh?

- raises both hands
Makes sense if you go back to the original post.
People tend to shoot first, and ask questions later.

God - this *is* very crossposted, isn't it...

My original ISP sent out a guide to nettiquette with its software. In
it, it stated that it is best not to post to a newsgroup for at least
six weeks after subscribing. That time should be spent lurking, getting
a feel for the style and tone of the NG. It is a shame that this very
good piece of advice isn't given out by all ISPs to its new subscribers.
