umm...are they going to understand it though? i mean, if you're in an
NG where a lot of people speak english, then you're not going to not
write in english unless you can't actually speak it. oh dear, I've
confused myself now, but you get the idea. right?

"Who are you people...and where's my soup?"
Hm. No, I think at least some of them do speak English, but they're simply
not *willing* to speak English, they don't give shit about putting warnings
in their headers, and in general, they're a bunch of anti-social, extremely
irritating, dangerous meglomaniacs.
They are about to take over this newsgroup completely. Are we going to let
that happen? Today it's a newsgroup, but I tell you, they're aiming for the
entire net, and next, it's the world. If we don't stop them, we'll be
watching Buffy speaking French in no time.
It's time to stop them. Now.

And aren't you... English is generally accepted on the web as the
main language of the alt newsgroups, however sometimes it's not
possible to use English, especially when you don't know the
language very well... My French isn't too good, but I can
understand more or less what they are wriing in their msg...
And they don't seem like a bunch of maniacs, especially
sociopathic ones...
It seems that you are having some problems with accepting the
fact that not all the people in the world speak or want to
speak English...
> They are about to take over this newsgroup completely.
I suggest strongly that you will see your psychiatrist straight
away... The conspiration theory? Well, do you think French want
to rule the world or are you just living for the decaying (or
should I say rotten) British Empire?

I prefer seeing Buffy in English or in German... On the other
hand, sometimes I find myself sitting through and enjoying
entirely French showing of the show on M6...

I just leave your signature there as a reminder of a long lost
socialist and nationalistic notions...
And BTW, I'm not a Frenchman...

No. From you're e-mail address I'm guessing you're Polish.

Conspiracy theory.

This would be the former Empire that went to bloody and costly war to
defend YOUR country, would it?
Britain and her Empire entered World War Two in honour of a treaty that
declared we would defend the sovereignty of Poland against Nazi
aggression.
Historians are now broadly agreed that the British Empire came to an end
as a result of the ravages of WWII.
Thus one could argue that Poland cost Britain her Empire.
I hope this knowledge brings you a ray of happiness.
Most nations in Europe have enjoyed Empires at one time or another. We
just seemed to be better at it than most, that's all.
It's not our fault they all fell for it!
Unfortunately it would appear that "The British Empire" (TM) is just too
tantalising (if grossly outdated and lazy) a target for some to resist.
Also, with reference to the French language and Imperialism, I might add
that no son of a British leader has ever sponsored the genocide of
three-quarters-of-a-million people in order to specifically preserve the
English language as the dominant influence in the area.
France has. The mass slaughter of (Anglophone) Tutsis by the
(Francophone) Hutus was sponsored, aided and abbetted by the French
Secret Service commanded by the son of the late President Mitterand.

For the record, Mr. Mat, the above paragraph is known as irony. I
appreciate that some nations just don't 'do' irony (Germany and the USA
for two), but I had hoped it was popular in most other parts of Europe.
In short, I don't think these posters were being entirely serious.
As for the French posters here...
This is a NG set up and primarily propagated by Dutch people who
*choose* to post in English in deference to it's dominant position as
the chief language on Usenet.
There are posters who use there own language, be this through a lack of
English or simply a desire to express themselves as comfortably as
possible. *HOWEVER* Those that do post in 'foreign' languages usually
mention that language in their headers.
(Also, sometimes (typically when there is a long Dutch language thread)
posters will attempt to translate the themes of the thread into English
for the benefit of the majority.)
This is not a lot to ask and, more importantly, it is one of the RULES
of this NewsGroup.
The French posters mentioned have done none of these things and thus
have formed their own exclusive clique within alt.buffy.europe. These
posters have disrespected the etiquette of this group.
THAT is what causes the upset.
Most here enjoy the Pan-European nature of this group. They just ask
that posters have a basic respect for the wishes of the majority.
Yours, in Pan-European harmony and British-Polish solidarity,

The key thing you must remember about the British Empire:
It wasn't our fault they all fell for it!
> Conspiracy theory.
Yeah, sorx, my mind went away for a few seconds...

Because the British Intelligence has found out that the German
military doctrine of Blitzkrieg favoured attack on the western
flank in 1939... The WW II has been an inevitable consequence of
rise of so called volkism in Germany... This doctrine also called
for expansion of Germany to the east (then thought of as a Soviet
territory) to gain a so called Lebensraum fur Deutsche...
The German miliary leaders have known that if Germany was to win
WW II, this war had to end before 1943... And the British
Admirality has known about this since 1936... The British
government plan has been to delay the forthcoming war as long as
possible... And to start this war rather in Eastern than in
Western Europe, which was BTW a rather intelligent thinking...
The British guarantee proposals were accepted by Poland in
February 1939 and they were officially pronounced in the House of
Commons on March 31, 1939.

Yes, however since 1915 British Empire in India and in the Far
East has been constantly undermined by the independence movement
in India and by a rise in Islamic fundamentalism in the Malayas.
After 1926 (when the treaty with Japan has not been prolonged by
Britain), the Empire was always bound to be on the defensive in
the Far East...
> Thus one could argue that Poland cost Britain her Empire.
Hardly. It has been rather caused by involvement of United States
and Soviet Union in WWII and thus polarization of the global
politics after the war...
> Most nations in Europe have enjoyed Empires at one time or another. We

That's a questionable statement...

It's not the The British Empire, I'm targetting (actually the
whole concept hasn't been that bad :)

One can also argue that British have discovered and used for the
first time - concentration camps in the Anglo-Boer war
(1899-1902)...
On the other hand, I can entirely agree with the passage and I
know for the fact that many French had not kissed goodbye the
idea of a French Empire and are not going to simply hand over the
influence that France had (and in some cases has) on ACP
countries...
However, if you are willing to comment on the matters stated
above to continue this discussion, I'm willing to continue this
subject, however not on the newsgroup... I can assure you that I
know that I thoroughly know the history and international
relations, especially since I'm majoring in the latter...

For the record, Le Mat is an alias or a nickname if you prefer...
And I am an ironic person myself... However, I have writen a
paragraph below to show that I don't really care, who makes a
great movies or in this case a brilliant series... If you've got
a misconception I'm sorry...
