James Marsters, who plays Spike, is not British. I read that he
learned his accent from watching a *lot* of Monty Python :-)
Anthony Steward Head (Giles) is British.

Dru, Spike, and Wesley (or better, Juliet Landau, James Marsters and
Alexis Denisof) are not Brits, they're americans. Denisof did spend a
good deal of time in the UK, studied at the London Academy something
Arts, or somesuch...He has done a good deal of stage and televisioin
work in the UK, IIRC.
Anthony S. Head is the only real brit on the show (only real brit
regular, that is..)

He needs to watch a lot more, then. Spike's British accent has me
in stitches every time I see him. I have a friend from Wisconsin who
is a Monty Python fan - his British accent is perfect. (and his Python
woman voice isn't bad either)

Figures. Actually, I like the contrast between Spike (using typically
British swear words /expressions) and Giles, who is virtually a caricature
of the old-fashioned, well-mannered, up-tight, very proper English gent.
