Pffff.........what to think of this? I'll go with Dork Boy Who's Name I
Don't Know:
"Whoa, Headrush."
Okay, so we actually DID get the annoying beginning of episode 'well,
the kiss meant nothing' and the end of episode smoochies. Well, break
down the house wild sex, anyway. Ye gods..Oh, yeah, and Amy showed up.
And, unfortunatley, so did the Nerd Troika. Didn't bother me uber much
this time, though. Too busy letting my head, y'know, spin.
Episode written by a new friendly addition to the writing staff, Drew Z.
Greenberg, himself a Buffy fan from day one, apparently (if one believes
past summer's bronze postage ;-) And he didn't do a half bad job. Not
perfect, but a solid eppie. He got a lot to work with, too.
First off, the Witches:
Okay, so, deratting Amy, very very simple. Hmm. Why didn't she do this
before? And, uh, Amy seems to be just as bad - if not worse than - as
Willow where flippant use of Magicks is concerned. The whole Bronze
scene bothered me, mostly because nobody *noticed* they were magicking
all over the bloody place. This said, Mmmm...Amy. She's back! And she
thought it'd only been weeks! And yet, we didn't get an eppie centered
around her. Methinks we'll be seeing a little more of her over the next
few eps. Not too much, if all they're gonna do is good off, though.
Tara's all torn up about it, and isn't the Tara/Dawn thing cute (mind
OUT of gutter, you pervert..)? Not gonig too well. I'm wondering if Tara
and Dawn know about Amy (I'm guessing 'no', but that would be
weird..timeline's a little blurred..) and if Amy knows about Dawn. Do
Rat memories get altered too?
Xander and Anya: Are there, make a little bit 'o' funny, express
concern, move along.
Next up: The Dorks
Gah. As soon as they popped up in the 'Previously On..' segment I
cringed. Bah. Then we got some funny, but rather silly 'Lone Gunmen'
spoof (which, I know, is a spoof itself, but I'm not gonna say mission
impossible.), Batman villain weapons (yawn..) and extremely dorky
dialogue. Jonathan is beginning to bug me, that other kid is annoying,
Warren's the only one I can halfway stand, because he actually seems to
have a *brain*. Right. So they've got a plan. Involves a diamond. Right.
An 'Alan Parsons Project'..err..Laser or something? We'll see, I guess.
Bah. On the bright side, perhaps chipsville ending is in sight.
Spike...and eventually Buffy.
Drew Greenberg is evil. Spike hits Buffy, doesn't feel pain, goes out to
feed, I'm whooping and cheering! YESS!! For a moment there, I was afraid
they'd do a redemptionist "aw, darn, I can't eat this girl" thing, but
they made it worse, made it more confusing: he tries, but fails. Off to
Dorks Inc. Chip's working (Damn. And why do they have all this hi-tech
crap? Ah well..) Oh, and darn. Now Spike knows of them. The link Scoobs
-> Spike -> Dorks has been established. Let's hope they dechip him and
he kills them. Aaaah....
ARGH! But then, 'oooh!', more chills: is Buffy 'wrong'? Or is there a
way to get around the chip? And, is Buffy 'wrong'????
Hmmm...consequences? Odness? The plot's getting thicker, and I have no
clue where we're going. I LIKE it. What I hate is that we may well have
to wait about 2 months before we get anything new. Well, perhaps one new
one in a coupla weeks, but it looks like rerun hell is upon us (ARGH!!)
Right, Buffy's all screwed up. She knows it's wrong, she knows it's a
bad choice, but she's still really goofed about it. She wants to confide
in Willow, but finds she can't. She almost comes clean with X and A, but
instead gets nervous and all that. And then, the revelation that Spike
can hurt her. First, shock, horror, he's back, and he's evil. Next, he
can only hurt her. And she can't really deal.
Then what? A nifty Matrix-y fight sequence (well, walls 'n things, not
the rest) complete with some mildly reminicsent music (maybe it's just
me..) and holy CRAP. Onscreen boinkage. And it's pretty rough. Looks
like an urgent need, basic drive, lust perhaps, but not love. At least,
that's not what it looked like to me. It's....disturbing. And the most
explicit thing since the Buffybot scenes. Heck, perhaps more explicit.
Couple (hehe...'couple') that to the visual pyrotechnics and the house
breaking down....whoa.
My head, as mentioned, is spinning. I'm gonna need to start my
rewatches, or something.
As for the title: smashed, eh? Not sure I get it. Hmm..too much
spinning. Can you stop the room, please? In a sense, it's annoying,
because there's not a whole lot in the 'plot' sense, and you feel a
buttload more coming on in the near future. It's largely setup. But it's
good setup, so..
Wonder when I'll get my grubby little fingers on Angel 3ADH09...

Even I thought that was annoying, yey me :-)

I wondered about that too. Way to simple really, or maybe just to show how
powerful Willow suddenly is. You know what she did with that computer was
also really frightfully powerful.

Probably not.

I liked them very much this ep, especially Anya, she said some sensible
things for a change. Not all 'oops shouldn't
say that'. She really made sense.

Yes!!

Magic always seems to have them ;-)
Odness? The plot's getting thicker, and I have no
> clue where we're going. I LIKE it.
Well it's a nice twist, I thought Buffy has less empathy anyway and you
can't just blame that on the "I'm torn from heaven", over and over again.
She's more like the first Slayer now IMO, bit more on the instincts so to
speak.

Maybe the house stands for Buffy's emotional side, she doesn't want to let
Spike in, but she finally gives in and the walls come tumbling down,
literally.
Would've liked to see a bit more skin and ripping off clothes and ....
> As for the title: smashed, eh? Not sure I get it.
Guess Buffy's image of the way she sees herself is quite smashed by now, she
was the last to expect she had something demonic.

Haven't seen it either :-(

lame. Fortunately things only got better from there on in.

YESS!!!
But I'm guessing not. At least we're openly acknowledging they're lame,
eh?

That was disturbing. Had she been able to do this a coupla years back,
she could've just zapped Moloch singelhandedly. Scary.

She often does. There's just not that much to say about them here.

Head. Spinning. Muchly.
> > Hmmm...consequences?

Yeah, but we'd been faked out into thinking we'd pretty much had them.
Let's hope we haven't (oh, I'm bad. And I like it.)

Well, you sort of can. It's been what, 2 months? And she's only come
clean about it recently? And she hasn't had much of anyone to talk about
it with (she's not the most open girl.) There's plenty there to cause a
whole boatload of numbness and, and stuff.
> She's more like the first Slayer now IMO, bit more on the instincts so to
> speak.
A little. But also not really. As the Musical Ep showed, she doesn't
even really care about slaying any more. That's the only thing the first
slayer cared about. What Spike did manage to do is finally get a rise
out of her, rouse her anger, rouse something, get a reaction. Not a
whole lot of things have been able to do that recently.

I wouldn't read it that way. She's not acting out of love. It's lust,
and desperation. The walls come tumbling down aspect is definately
there. What it really means is something we'll have to wait and see
about.

Well, we don't know what she is, really.

I'm not going to bother with a DivX, I'm in line for a VCD, but waiting
sucks!
There are already plenty of threads started on this one, just I'll just
piggyback.

Quite a long "Previously" wasn't it.

Ugh, Dork Squad again. Not quite so bad this time, but they didn't have so
much time devoted to them.

Well she was doing Magical Homework back in S2.

I would have liked to have seen more fallout from her discovery that it has
been three years, but it does look like she will be here for a while, so
they can do that later.

Also, how much of being a rat does she remember. She seems to have a
residual aversion to cheese and big wheels, but hasn't mentioned much more.

If they can make Robots hat can pass convincingly as human, evil lint that
warps time (with self destruct), and freeze rays, why are they bothering
with Sunnydale and Buffy? They just don't seem to have any ambition.

Yeah, I like the fact that they've worked this. Spike's chip isn't firing
because Buffy's come back not quite so human. I guess we'll find out exactly
what she has come back as at the end of February sweeps, and fix it for the
end of May.
BTW, new ep next week, trailer is up.

Cue the kiss/denial loop again, only this time it's boink/denial. Buffy
clearly realises that what she is doing is wrong, you can Xander and Anya's
words hitting home in the magic shop. Question is how much of this going
wild is down to Buffy and the trauma of what she has been through, and how
much is down to her coming back "wrong"?

I may have thought better of this ep if I had not been spoiled for the
boinkage, however I stumbled across it a few weeks ago on a site that
doesn't normally carry this sort of thing, Grrrr.

I've not bothered with the encode posted so far, going to wait for the

Yes, quite. Those are the best kind though, which is why cutting them is
Evol. Although it did pretty much tell you 'look! Amys' back!!'

They had just the right amount of time devoted to them, tilting slightly
towards 'too much'. Keep it at about this level, we should be OK. Go all
'Life Serial' on me, and I'm far, far less amused.

Very true..

Agreed. I was, to be honest, surprised that we brought Amy back, and
then promptly went on to focus on something entirely different. Mind
you, not that I'm dissapointed this is what happened, far from it..

No, other than thinking it was only a few weeks, not a lot of detail
forthcoming. Buffy didn't seem to remember a whole lot about her very
brief stint as a rat, to be certain. Rat's intellect, and all that. No
sense of time, perhaps?
(grmblgrmbl....why did Amy have to be neatly curled up on the
bed...grmblgrmbl...)

They're quite deeply stupid on most conventional levels. Patent a few
things, and you'll be rich and famous and babes will lie at your feet.
Or something.

Cynic....or rather, realist. Of course, we could go all 'Angel' and wrap
it up by ep 16 or so and proceed to do something Completely
Different[tm] for the final five.
;-)

You predict we get more of this next week, you mean? Or just stating the
state of things now?

Combination of factors, I guess. How much is she going to try to blame
on the fact that she might've come back wrong (if she's even
contemplating the option, that is..)

Bah bah bah bah....spoilers suck. I'm glad I wasn't spoiled because,
well, I was very surprised at the turn of events. More than once.
Several times. Bit of a rollercoaster ride. And I still have no clue
where it's going to go from here, which can only be a good thing. Around
this ep time last year (well, I was behind on the US schedule..) I'd
been spoiled for 'The Body'. Bad, that.

Ominous title...but then again, we ARE talking about Mr. Doyle Killer
himself (all hail Tim!)
Hehe, no such fear here, i just started a new thread - you guys don't have
to reply to it though.

I like them cos it means i can do all those last minute things, like make
tea and tidy up, while I'm waiting for the ep. The long the POB segments
are the tidier my room gets.

I like the Three Stooges. It nice ot see what theya re all up to this time,
although you really would have thought Jonathon would have learnt his lesson
by now. He should team up with Amy and Willow :)

Oh no, this was exactly right, because if you concentrated too much oin the
witch stuff you would have had to explain Willow a bit more - I get the
feeling we are building up to an ep dedicated on Willow again.

Oh yeah right Mattia, of course she could have come back naked and sprawled
across the bed, with everything out ofr the lads. Hurumph. Like thats
going to happen. Remember Angel and his naked return? And Buffy?

Or get a really good job - these guys are not just bright - but superbright.
Why haven't they been headhunted and offered the world. What on earth are
they doing still in Sunnydale. Especially Warren.
Hmmm doesn't that only happen when someone has leaked the plot out early and
they have to rewrite the last 4 eps of the show?

I agree that we aren't now going straight to a Buffy/Spike getting married
again scene. There has to be consequences of this. And Buffy isn't just
going to declare undying love - there will be angst and torment and a lot of
whining.

:-p
On a side note, the fact that I don't even care enough to go look up
Dork Boy Who's Name I Don't Know's name should tell you something...

Oh dear god....you must LOVE S3, then: "I'll go out on a limb and say
there's a new Slayer in town." In case we'd missed it the, oh, first 10
times. And hadn't figured out there was a 'Faith' arc.

Sue, stop bringing logic into this. It doesn't fit. ESPECIALLY not here.
(Why the hell does this argument sound so famliar...I'm quite sure I've
never used it before, so...)

Yes, most especially Warren. He's the only one with a modicum of social
skills, apparently. Then again, only in comparison to the other two,
so...

Um, no. You mean 'why was there no Darla after ep 16' for Angel?

Oh, good! That's the best kind. Personally though, I don't think she's
been whining all that much. Been rather taciturn of late, our stake
wielding little friend has...

At the time you wrote this it was about 8 hours since Grace finished
capping. Oh, and it was something like 4AM. It's going up now, though...
Great idea!

Would you like some quotes with that, Mattia?
:p

Because they're dorks with no self-esteem at all. You can be smarter than
anyone but you'll never ever get a good job if you're a geek with
self-worth issues (Oprah will tell you so too).

Watched the wow encode. Picture qualitywise about the same as Grace's, but
a pain in the ass to get (download took *13* hours!! tssss)

If you've get them, bring 'em on. Buffy and/or Angel quotes, obviously.
Besides the classic "Thank you, logic boy. Did I mention this is a rant?
Sense really has no place in it." that is..

Yikes. I got mine and watched it. Stood in line for about 5, downloaded
in 2. Picture quality wise, it's a good bit softer than Grace's, anyway.
Different. Good, but different. Oh, and stereo.
