The BBC doesn't really care about Buffy?
Quite right too. Nor should it.
The BBC is a multi-Billion pound transglobal entity. Ultimately the fate
of a minority-targeted and (sad to say) marginally popular show is
justifiably irrelevent to the corporation.
I LIKE the licence fee. I am proud to pay it. I happen to like quality,
community-accountable television. I like the fact that there are still a
few broadcasting systems left in the world that are not at the mercy of
multinational capital and/or the disturbing megalomaniacal whims of a
select few increasingly all-conquering potential tyrants.
I'm getting tired of the Murdoch-media-hyped Anti-BBC bandwagon. I dread
to think that the quality and power of the BBC is being steadily eroded
little by little.
I hate to read Beeb-bashing postings in all the BtVS newsgroups. It
breaks my heart to see something I love like "Buffy" used to needlessly
denegrate and endanger something I love (and NEED) even more in the BBC.
Ah, sod it all. I'm going to bed.
End.
