Looks like the pilot episode of Bryan Fuller / Tim Minear's
"Wonderfalls" finally aired last night in the US. Does anyone know if
the episode has been changed from the pre-release version that was
floating around a while back?

(Which was excellent, by the way. Everyone should watch this show!)

It's been a while since I saw that pre-release one, but I didn't notice
any differences.

Yes! I watched the xvid today and I was a *little* worried it had become
better and funnier in my mind, also because I'm now a total fan of "Joan
of Arcadia" which sorta has a similar premise... but but Wonderfalls still
rocks and had me laughing out loud at times.

I never saw the pre-release and had no idea what this was about other than
Minear sasying it was different to Dead Like Me and Joan of Arcadia (two of
the best new shows in the states) So, naturally, I assumed it wasn't
different to the two shows (as when someone says "on no, it's nothing like
buffy" you know damn well they'll have a killer puppet, some wearwolfs, a
bloke with a freezeray and some fish people in the first season)

Ayway I watched the show not knowing anything about it and I came away still
not knowing anything about it. It was good, I think, but I didn't like the
chick playing the sister and I didn't really know what was going on...I know
it's probably deliberate that theyre not explaining whats going on but it's
strange....is she insane or is it really happening? I dont know if I wanna
like Jaye yet....

It reminded me a lot of Dead Like Me. Strong [pretty] female lead,
underachiever, alienated from the world mixed in with a large dose of
supernatural. Plus bunch of quirky friends/relatives.

Yeah but they avoided too much exposition which would have been dull
and left me wanting to watch more.

Will watch more of this.

The original pilot was only about 35 minutes, while the final-edit pilot
that aired is the regular 42 minutes, so there are some additions and
expansions. The only 'edit for content' I noticed was Eric (the
bartender) had his voice over comment about the end of his (one-day)
marriage shortened to just 'I walked in and found her with the bellhop'
(although they didn't change the visual).

Hey, Tim Minear agrees with me! What were the chances? ;-)
