And again, Willow's spell goes all wrong and causes havoc. Will she ever
learn? She'd better, before the results of her spells-gone-awry leave
all of Sunnydale in ruin. Maybe it's safer for Willow to only do spells
together with Tara. Mind out of the gutter! Although admittedly that
would be safest of all *and* make for some very enjoyable television :)
Of course it wasn't all Willow's fault, but why do a spell in front of
the ever annoying Anya when it is very delicate and requires heaps of
concentration? Willow should have known better than that.
Just like Buffy and her parents should have known better than talking
about the consequences of being the Key when its ignorant human form
could very well be listening in on the conversation. Which, of course,
Dawn was.
It is interesting to note that the CoW is willing to help Giles out with
the research. Glory and the Key must be interesting enough to forget
about the fact that they sacked Giles and that Buffy turned in her
resignation. The CoW may be a fine collection of goons but they also
have a fine collection of books and a vast knowledge of strange things.
And it happens that both Glory and the Key are very strange things.
Buffy breaking down all the time was also strange. Over the top to be
more precise. But hey, we are to believe that Riley is really someone to
be missed. Giles even misses the Initiative. I think I'll just pay no
attention to it all and let Buffy cry if she wants to. After all, it is
her par.. show.
At least she showed some understanding about what caused the timely
breakup between her and Riley. And she had Dawn to guide her thoughts.
Which was actually a touching scene. No need for Buffy to join the
convent. I don't need to see a vampire fighting nun. Although she could
hide a lot of weapons under that robe.
Xander and Anya are warned: if they ever decide to break up Buffy will
kick their ass even before Anya has time to think about her ways of
revenge. Now we know that both Anya and Willow aren't planning on
hurting Xander any time soon, so everything should be okay. And that's
how Buffy likes it. If she can't have a happy life herself, she'll make
damn sure her friends can (as witnessed in The Prom for instance). I
wonder whether Buffy would have been just as upset if she'd thought that
Willow and Tara were on the verge of a breakup.
This episode had a novelty: for the first time I thought that Tara
looked even more beautiful than Willow! Wow, the blue eyeshadow made her
look like a goddess. Again, I understand why Willow is so fond of doing
spells with her :) And to think they're only getting more
experienced....
--> after a long cold shower:
This episode did much more for me on second viewing. I didn't like it at
first to put it mildly. And it's still no shocker. But it's lighthearted
and funny, and it could have been much worse with Buffy crying over
Riley's departure half of the time (which would be even more unrealistic
than Olaf the Troll). I wonder what the Council of Goons come up with on
the mystery of Keys & Wicked Blondes. Dawn is the Portal and Glory needs
it to either go some place else or invite all of her friends in. Either
way, I take it that Dawn won't live to find out when Glory gets her. And
the monks didn't hide the Key only to piss off Glory. Or they'd have to
be really tired of their lives.
Next week Willow and Tara perform a spell together under the shower. Hey
come on, what could go wrong in the shower...?
Bye, Patrick
