First of all : YEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAA !! We're back in Sunnydale.
(Annoyingly loud voice).
About the ep : yippee ? (Very calm voice).
Of course the fact that we had to wait so long let expectations rise through
the roof. At least in my case. And of course now, I am slightly
disappointed. I would have preferred it when I would have seen this ep at
a different time. Not as a first one to continue the series. In my view
this was one of those episode's where the main season storyline turns a
corner and we have entered a new chapter. I wouldn't be surprised when in
the next one or two eps, we would (finally) meet the main villain of the
season. The Big Evil. (But that's just a guess, maybe there is no Big
Evil. Don't tell me). The downside of an ep like that is that many times
the story within the ep is not very important. Like in this one.
Let's face it, the story with a couple of demons trying to open the
Hellmouth again by gathering stuff in order to perform a ritual is pretty
lame. "It's the end of the world." "Again ?"
But is was a very important ep as well. Several things got sorted out.
Buffy and Riley are clear now where they stand towards each other. Their
secret identities will no longer be a burden to them privately. They will
remain a couple in their private lives and in their "work" they can respect
each other and can even join forces.
Willow seems to be back where she was before she met Ozz. She is no longer
cool but she is portrayed once again as a nerd, only accepted by her
friends. Maybe Willow has to become insecure and alone again to make it
plausible that she will want to try something very new, relationship wise.
(Is there anybody who isn't spoiled about that what I am referring to ?)
Spike has become without a doubt a permanent member of the Scooby gang.
Isn't is convenient that he *can* hit demons ? (How did he perform during
he fight with those demons in "Something Blue" ? Why didn't he notice
then, that he can hit demons without pain ? Did he seem to have pain then
? I can't really remember. Is this a mistake by the writers ?) He is
a vampire who has been "cursed" with something that will make him fight his
former buddies. He is no longer a devil but in a way you might say he has
become somewhat of an angel. Hmmmm, sounds very familiar. Do I like this
? I don't know, let's wait and see.
I am sure that I will appreciate the ep more after I have seen it a second
and third time. But my first impression is that "Doomed" is not one of the
best eps of the series. But neither one of the worst.
Finally, the funniest moment of the episode is..................(drums
roaring)...............Spike trying to sound like an American when Riley
wondered if he knew him.
Comments anybody ?
Bye, Rob
He thought he couldn't hit them, so he didn't try. He just let them beat him
up, but Buffy jumped in to protect him (IIRC).

He sort of turns against his former 'buddies'. Right now. he wouldn't mind
beating up even a vampire. Of course he has done that before in Lover's
Walk. But it's just that he will beat up anything he can get his hands
(fists rather) on. He's really enjoying his newfound possibility.

Nah.

Bye, Patrick
