This FAQ isn't finished yet.....its a guideline on how to post messages on the alt.buffy.europe newsgroup. A complete version will be finished soon....
1) Help people are telling me I posted a spoiler to the group. But this episode has allready aired....
A: alt.buffy.europe is a place for *all* european
fans to interact. These people are all in different points in the show.
Therefore discussing something that may have allready been shown where
you are, may spoil a whole season or worse for other people on the list.
2) Q :Can I post spoilers to the list.
A: Yes you can. But there are a few rules you must follow to keep your fellow fans from reading things they dont want to.......
Because of the different people from different
countries just stating spoiler in your message header isnt enough. You
must therefor allways make clear in your header what episode or season
you're discussing and make sure that your header isn't spoilerish. For
instance a good header for discussion about passion would be :
(contains spoilers for passion) wow what a good
ep!!
Furthermore *allways* use spoiler spaces for episode
specific or other spoilerish discussion. Just a warning in the header isn't
enough! A good example of a spoiler space is:
s
p
o
i
l
e
r
s
p
a
c
e
spoilerish comment
3) Can I post in my own language? I'm not that good with english.....
A: of course! Just be sure to include a [language] part in your header so people who don't understand that language don't have to bother with a thread they can't understand.
for instance: if your posting a message in french you include a [francais/french] part in your message header.
4) I want to reply to a thread in a different language, can I?
A: In short, no. If you want to reply to a thread in a different language either start a new thread or don't reply.
5) Can I post an off topic message?
A: purely off topic messages like "hey do all you guys feel that ping pong balls should be bigger" will get ingnored and aren't allowed..... If a thread strays off topic, its ok but try to get it back on topic or continue the topic off list....of course if a topic is considered good fun by most people on list theres no trouble in a bit off topicness. Just use your good judgement and consider that an on topic post is more likely to get an awnser than an off topic one...
6) Are there any dont's which will get me in trouble on the list?
A: Apart from the things stated as dont's above, not really. In general things like "sarah michelle gellar is só hot" or "do you guys have any nude pics of buffy" won't earn you much karma points with people on the list, so try to refrain from those....
7) I have buffy things for sale, can I advertise on the group?
A: in short, no...... people seeking to trade stuff or who need stuff are allowed but try to keep it to a minimume, this isnt a trade group. People seeking to make profit by selling buffy things including things like bootleged copies of episodes arent welcome....
8) Any other things I should know before posting
A: Not really.....now go on and post allready
<g>!!!!
The complete version of this FAQ'll bepublished on the web (doesnt that sound kewl <g>) as soon as its finished....

Q) Can I post in HTML?
A) You can, but it won't make you popular. It's a waste of
bandwidth (telephone costs).

Nice FAQ george. Just a few points

I can't see why someone would read an englisg thread and want to respond
in dutch!
Also there are several places where you use "list" instead of "group".

Yeah yeah I know......I created the FAQ in HTML format....when I copied and
pasted I fogot to delete some of the HTML.....
but hey things like that are bound to happen, especialy with the growing
popularity of outlook and netscape messenger (who *do* support HTML in
newsgroup postings) as newsreaders as opossed to classics like agent.....
See Ya,
George
-hopefully only post from this ISP.....this computer is horible slow <g>-

Ok one more post from this ISP <g>. As for the reply in a different language
thing, I didnt even think of that as well, untill peter brought it up in
previous postings and stated he *did* want to do that (only here it was
reply to a frenc post in english...).
As for the list/group thing you're completly right there....guess its the
bad influence of buffyuk and buffy europe @ onelist <g> This will be changed
in the finished version of the FAQ (I created this one because of obvious
reasons...and some mistakes were bound to happen...)
